I am amazed to find out that all of the AOL cd's software that I continually threw out over the years are a hot collectible!!! ... there are AVID collectors trying to get my friend to take down an auction early to sell to them. ... she investigated further and found quite a few websites dedicated to the hobby ... they collect them for the artwork on the cd's or on the tins/cases that they come in .... .... i repeat, i am AMAZED! ...
so this is to let you know, that when you see those freebies in the stores, at the post office, in your sunday paper insert, in cereal boxes etc... toss 'em in a drawer till you amass some, then throw 'em on ebay!

Only the very old ones have any value.
We were at a junk yard the other day and there was a junked van covered with chicken wire and CDs and it looked like a giant fish. A very unusual sight to behold.

I like the plastic cases they used for a while. You could put one or two CDs and
a floppy disk in them at the same time. Then take the label out of the pocket,
reverse it and write your new info on that.
The tins are nice enough. I'll keep them for a few years. Never know might be
worth something later.
When I first started out with PCs I'd use my free AOL disks for doing backups.

AOL tins are great for shipping small items like baseball cards. They're strong and they weigh hardly anything.
