I love to read the posts on this board!
I just feel like venting a little this morning.
I sold a suit to a lady for $9.99 with $5.75 shipping. She received the suit and loved it but sadly there seemed to be a 1 inch slit in the sleeve. { I check every item carefully and did not see a cut in the sleeve} I sent her a full refund + shipping and told her to keep the suit!
Today there is a complaint on my feedback that I will not respond to her e-mails!
I have sent her copies of the transaction record and several e-mails with no response from her!
I don't really care about the neg. feedback as the 4 that I have are from jerks that I wouldn't take checks from.
I guess it takes all kinds!

I get the feeling that you have been had. Always ask for the goods back so that you can look them over.

This was your first big mistake, no goods, no refund! I take it that you already left her a feedback? No, no , the deal is not over till you hear from them when they get the item.

Have you checked her feedback to see if she has played this game before? Learn from this and never do this again.

I didn't think it was worth the trouble for a lousy $10 bucks to have her return it.
You are right I did learn a good lesson!
Thanks for the reply!

For some strange reason it seem's that the low end stuff has the most problems.[Ten bucks and under] They where counting on the fact that this was not worth your time to have it returned. Smells like a scam to me and I bet this is not the first time they pulled this on someone.

Might not apply here but .... The 'seller-never-leaves-the-feedback-first' policy would let you at least get to return the neg and warn other sellers.

isadoras1000: I'm sorry this happened to you...and wish there were a space somewhere on the Web you could put her eBay id so the rest of us could block her.

You better be careful with this policy as it is against ebay's TOS. It is called feedback extorsion and you can be terminated if caught. The proper thing to do is place your proper feedback once you have been paid. Then add a comment later if needed.

In this case though, you should never send a refund until the goods are back in your hand. I have caught a few dishonest people this way. Usually they won't send the item because I called their bluff.

stonecold613, where do you find all your information? Certainly not from ebay's rules. Once again you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

I'm feeling charitable today, so I will speculate that Mr. S. Cold is simply mistaken.

Sounds to me like a spam filter or some other kind of email problem caused a misunderstanding.

Hello
I bet the "Spam filter" didn’t stop the funds return.

My TOS on every lot say "I return all feedback". (Keyword RETURN) It has stopped the BS in its tracks. Dont let this one incident mar your nice day.

From the Ebay TOS.

Feedback extortion - Demanding any action of a fellow user that he or she is not required to do, at the threat of leaving negative feedback.

This includes sellers that demand buyers to leave feedback first or get a neg in return.

Demand means a written email or similar. A general unstated feedback policy about handling feedbacks is not against ebay rules.

Even stating that "I don't leave feedback until it is left for me" isn't feedback extortion because there was no threat of a negative. Feedback is voluntary. Neither party has to leave it first because neither party has to leave it at all.

The proper thing to do is place your proper feedback once you have been paid.
No, the proper thing to do is leave feedback after the transaction is over as Ebay suggests. The transaction isn't over until both parties agree it is.

I used to believe that sellers should leave feedback when they were paid. No more. There have been too many cases where buyers tried post-shipment scams, and sellers had no recourse.

I found a compromise I can live with. I leave feedback once I hear from the bidder that the mdse is OK. If they want to tell me that in an email instead of feedback, that's OK with me, but no feedback until I hear from them.

stonecold I think you're confusing two different actions. "Witholding feedback" is not the same as "threatening negative feedback." eBay does not require anyone to leave feedback.

Leave FB when I'm paid? Never again in this lifetime. I don't know if you're a seller, Stonecold. But I'd be willing to bet that almost every seller here who used to do that has been hit with a neg where the buyer never told them there was a problem. That's why we don't do it. We'd like the opportunity to work it out. But some buyers are ignorant and neg first. It's not extortion. It's just a safe way to do business. A transaction is complete when the buyer is happy and communicates that to the seller.
