This is a flat-out scam. When is the last time you saw the nonexistent word "readd?"

No matter what anyone might think of the folks at eBay, at least their use of language is correct. The first thing to look for in these fraudulent emails is their misbegotten sense of spelling and syntax.

And how lame is it for someone to tell you that they have removed your credit card number and the way to assure its safety is to pass it on to them? Wow!

Forward it, with all headers to [email protected]. They will let you know shortly whether or not it's legit (which it isn't). They need a copy of this scam so they can shut it down.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

If you get one from PayPal who do you send that one to? Received one a couple of days ago....

Capotasto: Yeah, well. . . .

Sometimes we're cautious - or not as smart as we should be! I noticed the poor syntax etc. in that message, but for some reason it just got to me.

I've forwarded it to spoof.

Carguy, LOL. I just got an e mail from Powersellers to again be one. There are two misspellings in that e mail which sounded an alarm. I verified the misspellings. The e mail is NOT fake but sure looks like it. "workhard" is one and I can't misspell the other one "entupenuer?". I notified e bay of this.

Has ebay or paypal ever sent an email to anyone with a link to click ? I always view any e-mail with a link which would lead to giving sensitive data with suspicion.

carguy

I think the word should have been "re-add" instead of "readd" (but the idea is the same).

There's a CHANCE this is not a spoof--Roadsmith, did you check your eBay account to see if your credit card DID drop off? Maybe you forgot to update the expiration date on the card? I agree that one needs to be very wary of e-mails like this, but you can always verify from the eBay site itself if the info in the e-mail is correct or not.

Not lurkyloo on eBay

If you want to make sure your credit card is up to date go through Ebay's site map. In the middle column under seller accounts, there is the following link Place or update my credit card on file with eBay

Yes, I got a 'verify your credit card' email from PayPal with a link...and it turned out to be a genuine email.

I gave them hell. How institutionally stupid is it to send out these kinds of emails?
