What do you do if you have to leave town and will not have access to a computer? I don't have many auctions running right now, 21 and 4 with bids. I have to fly to CA with my mom for my aunts funeral and have auctions ending.

One the ones with bids I guess I can cancel them and offer to let the bidders have the item since they are the only bidders. I hate to end them as I will lose the fees.

Would it be better to end them or make changes to them stating I won't get back to the winner for up to 5 day after EOA? When you change the ones with bidders the new information goes to the bottom of the page and I doubt anyone ever sees that.

What do you guys do when in this situation?

When do they end? If you could extend them to 10 day auctions you might be able to save most of them.

You could add a notice to the other 4 with bids stating you will be unavailable until xx date. And, you can email the bidders who are winning at this time.

As it turns out now I will only have two end when I'm gone. I guess I will go in and add to the one, which is a BIN, that I won't respond to any emails until ???date. My sweet husband offered to take of them but he doesn't have even a shadow of a clue about any of it.

The other one I expect, and hope, to have more bids as I started it low for what it is.
It is a R. Ginori serving tray listed in two categories. Guess I will take your advice and email the current bidder and add to the description in BIG font so maybe any other bidders will see it.

Now I gotta really get busy and get a bunch of auctions written so I can get them up when I get home. Some of them I can start the day I leave.

Lindajean---Can you extend the length of an auction after it has started? That option would really be helpful.

If you are using Vendio or another service you can edit your EOA notice to inform winners that you have had to go out of town on a family emergency, will not have internet access during this time and when you expect to return. Give them your address in case they want to go ahead and send in payment but also state that you understand if they may wish to wait to send payment until you have returned. Tell them that you will email them when you return if they wish to wait until that time to send payment. Most people undersand delays if they are made aware of them.

How long do you think you will be gone? More than a week? If your auctions end in more than 24 hours and you have no bids on them, I know you can extend the time but it costs more. I havent done this that often to tell you what the ramifications are.

Another thing, make sure you add a note to your about me page, stating that you will be away and will check for emails etc when you return in 10 days or whatever time you think you will be back. I think you can add that to your auctions as well. I think it is part of check out. Not sure. Don't use it but I know I've seen it.

Oh, one more thing. Your email:
If you use outlook or Yahoo mail, I know that there is an out of office or vacation auto response you can set up to be sent out when someone sends you an email. I think hotmail has that as well. Hope this helps.

I am sure someone else has more specifics than I.

Yes, you can if they have no bids yet and they are not scheduled to end in the next 12 hours.

You have to click on the revise button on each Ebay page (or write down the numbers because when you are through it will ask if you want to revise another item).

Then just click on the revise item details or something like that. It is at the bottom of the revise page.

It will show you they will cost you 10 cents each for extending - just like a 10 day auction, but I have found my bids actually increase and I will often go in and extend everything that hasn't sold in the 7 days.

You can also add to your eBay description, and inform bidders of the situation. As stated above, you can also edit your EOA to include the additional information.

I recently had a similar situation, but it was after the auctions had closed and before most items were shipped. What a mess that was.
