DO NOT fall for that. Check your own account if in doubt. And I doubt there is anything wrong with it. I just used mt credit card in the REAL world and it was fine. I got one of those phoney ass things too in an e mail. NEVER!!!!!! reply to those. NEVER!!!!!!

and the rip goes on,,,,,,,,,,,

I'd also check to see if you've inadvertently downloaded some malicious software or a virus that reads keystrokes. It could be a third-party program (one that works like Gator) that is trying to "trick" you into entering your info on a third party site.

For SpyBot Search and Destroy.
It's free and it has updates.

While you're there, make sure you get SPYWARE Blaster, I think it's in the same location as a download. It is installed inside of SpyBot once you download it and it keeps those cookies and spyware from downloading on your computer.

Both are well worth the time to install and run.

(and for all of you who say just set your cookies high and turn active X off...yeah yeah I know. some of us aren't computer literate)

Thanks for the help. What I didn't understand was this asked for my credit card info while I was using auction watch listing page not in my email. It happend when I pushed the ebay auction review button after I filled out the listing form. I just ran a virus scan and thats all good. I also just ran a Add Aware scan and found one unwanted cookie that I got rid of. So maybe all is well now.

What you described is a Trojan Horse Virus.

Go over to the auction manager forum and start a thread on this topic. The moderators may be familiar with this and be able to confirm that it is indeed not coming from their servers. My guess is that you have a trojan horse on your hard drive. I would also log onto housecall and do a remote scan just in case your local AV software is missing it. If the moderators know about it, they may also be able to attach a name to it and direct you to a removal tool.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Were you on ebay or Vendio? If you were on ebay, it sounds like your credit card is about to or already has expired. I remember about two years ago, this happened to me. I went to the update my info page (or something like that) and sure enough, the credit card I had provided had expired. You should check it, but don't use any links provided in a e-mail. Always go in via the ebay pages.
Good luck.

That's sound advice and it's a good idea to check your cc on file expiration date once in a while. I think ebay or Vendio would email you ( without any links ) rather than a popup remind you that your card needs renewing.
Years ago on AOL I had a trojan horse virus that popped up every once in a while saying my credit card info needed updating. When I called AOL about they said it was a trojan horse and to type some nonsense into the boxes and send it and it would go away. In the box that had my name I typed " The FBI is watching you ".
