Let me preface this by saying that I have been away from home helping my mother across country following cancer surgery. Pathology report is good (thank heavens) but she is pretty ill and recovery is taking some time..so I am listing from Oregon and having my 19 year old ship the postcards i sold previously from Minnesota. All worked well until daughter reached a whole days listings (during the 1/2 off listing period naturally) and CAN"T FIND THEM!!!!!!!! UGH! I have been emailing and returning PP $ all day..i know i can find the postcards when i return but don't want to hold the money that long...WHAT A MESS!!

To top it all off..I quit smoking and am climbing the walls!!!

Happy to hear your mother's pathology report came back good. I had a bout with cancer 10 years ago and beat it! Also glad to hear about the smoking. I've been trying, really I have. Sigh. One day I'll kick the habit.

Did you explain your situation to your bidders? I hope that some of them are willing to wait until you get back. Best of everything to you and your family!

Hi Neglus, being with your Mom now is far more important than any old post cards. Don't worry about the cards and customers if they can't understand you are doing the right thing they are petty. Sounds like your Mom has a very good chance of beating cancer, WONDERFUL!!!! I hear you about kids I have a son that is a senior in college this year and is still an air head. I swear he is a great kid and we love him but if he fell out of a window he would go up. About smoking I am sure most Doctors would tell you, yes please quit smoking but maybe you should wait until a less stressful time to do it.

About quitting smoking, I'm with Bigpeepa on this. One major stressor at a time, please. Your mom's needs can't wait, but quitting smoking can.

BUT! When things are normal again, QUIT!

I'm so sorry to hear about the postcards! I know how hard you worked getting all those ads out before you left town.

But, I am happy to hear things look good for your Mom.

As far as quitting smoking goes, hang in there! Do you use the patch?

My daughter asked me what I wanted for my 50th Birthday 5 years ago. She had been out of touch for a year and a half over a silly disagreement and was so happy to be back she wanted to give me something special. She has bronchial asthma and I told her all I wanted was for her to quit smoking. She smoked her last cigarette the day before my birthday so I didn't think she would actually quit. But, she did! And, she was a three pack a day Marlboro smoker.

The patch worked great and she even quit using it before the last step.

As a cancer survivor, I wish your mother the best. I can tell you, there is nothing better than reaching that 5 year mark and having the doc tell you you're clean! Or walking the "Survivor's Lap" in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life amidst the cheers of hundreds of good folks lining both sides of the track...what a feeling.

As a former smoker for 27 years, I know how hard it is to quit. The stressful situation you're experiencing right now makes it that much harder. The patch works...even if you have to try it over and over again. Just keep trying until it "takes"!

Neglus....Good to hear your mom made it through surgery and results came back positive!

Here's an alternative to help you stop smoking. One of my friends did this and it worked for her. She was about a 2 pack a day girl. She tried the patch at one point, but smoked anyway. She tried the pill, but that made her goofy and unable to sleep. So, I'm really surprised this worked for her!

I'm actually going to get it for my girlfriend and I since after smoking for 19 years, I just don't really like it anymore.

There is another one out the with a similar name. I think it's called smoke away and has a bird on the bottle. It's not the same thing, and if you suffer from hayfever or allergies from goldenrod, stay away from this version as it contains goldenseal which is a cousin to goldenrod.

Anyway, here it is!

thanks all for the kind words and support - today's a better day!! Buyers were all very understanding and kind.

I am using BOTH the patch and Zyban to aid me in my stop-smoking campaign ( 2 pack/Marlboro Red habit is a toughie) and while the timing isnt the best, I am a week into it and so far so good (no cheating anyway). Hardest thing is the morning coffee and late nights when I am working on listing when mom's asleep. I am working in my Dad's home office and ,while he has been dead for two years, it smells rich and "tobacco-y" still - his Dunhill pipes are still around. So tempted to pull a Rachel Jackson and take up the pipe !

Hi Neglus, Sorry to hear about your mom, but I'm glad she received some good news too!
When someone you love is sick, it puts everything in perspective. When I was younger I would hear someone say "if you have your health, you have everything" and not really appreciate it, but now I truly understand. Hang in there with your quit smoking effort! I quit 20 years ago....you can do it!
