What is up with that? I lost a dress that I was bidding on - size large Hawaiian dress by Mamo Howell (I wasn't home to snipe - and it wasn't that important to me). I receive an email from ebay with "similar items" that I may be interested in since I lost that item. On that list was a lot of Bongo jeans size 1 (I don't think I was ever a size 1 and who is Bongo anyway?) and 2 Mamo Howell girls dresses size 2T. What is up with that!?

Those "similar items" are a joke at times. Once I was bidding on a pottery pink flamingo and they sent me a list with pink pigs on it.

I may be blonde but even I know the difference between a flamingo and a pig.

ihula, did you enjoy eBay live? Tell us anything interesting that went on. I did see a clip on TV of the first night but that was all. Watch my auctions (bracelet) as Hawaiian week will be next week....

Oooh, I will definately look at your bracelets. Ebay live was a blast. They had Weird Al sing his song at the end of the Keynote address which was funny since he was just at Summerfest the night before (a music festival in Milwaukee for all you out-of-towners)

I went to 2 classes - both I walked out of early. 1 because it was too basic and the other because they started naming surplus companies that are "good sources" that I've had bad dealings with in the past.

The best part was just meeting other people and the energy of it all. Next year it's in New Orleans and we haven't decided if we'll go again since we have other vacations planned. All in all it definately "regenerated" us. DH is actually talking about hiring employees so we can expand (funny, there's no talk about me quitting my job or going part-time, though)

One thing for sure - everyone was incredibly friendly - all the ebay staff, paypal staff - even Pierre. He was walking to a signing and my husband stopped him to ask what part of France his family is from and it turns out both their families are from the same part. He had a couple of "bodyguards" around him, but actually stopped and talked to DH for a few minutes and shook his hand (that was his highlight of the weekend).

Oh, and we got to the front of the line for having our trading cards signed, but Pierre and Meg had to leave. My DH actually said Oh please just sign this - we have 8000 feedbacks and Meg actually turned around and said - "OK for you I'll sign this, that's quite an accomplishment." I was pretty impressed. Both Pierre and Meg were very humble and gracious - and they had a great sense of humor during the Keynote.

No my user ID is bracelet. I think I have some interesting items.

Sounds like a blast. Why isn't eBay live in Milwaukee next year. They need to bring it out of the south and into the North don't you agree ihula although New Orleans is a great city with lots of history and girlie bars. lol, Bourbon Street especially.

Are you going to put your trading cards on Ebay. Just kidding but you will probably get a lot for them. It's to bad you don't live in Kenosha and then I could come work for you but the drive to Milwaukee is a killer. Thanks for the update....

Oh, I just remembered that you sold jewelry so I assumed it was bracelets - I blame it on my pain medicine LOL. I was really hoping for Chicago next year. There was a rumor early on that it was going to be in New York, so I'm just glad that's not the case. Nothing against New York, but too crowded and too hard to get around. New Orleans will be hot (weather wise) but should be ok. It is definately time to bring it further north

We are going to put some items on ebay (I want to save some as a keepsake) but I think I'll wait a few months - the market is pretty flooded right now. I'll see in a few months or maybe right before ebay live 2004 - people will be in "the mood" again then.

Next time I'm listing them while I'm there - some people did that and "beat the rush".

Is New Orleans really that easy to get around in? I only ask because earlier this year when we were invaded by the NFL for the Superbowl everyone I talked to said that N.O. was the worst city for the SB because everything was too crowded and overrun despite being spread out and a pain to get around.

I have always wanted to go for Mardi Gras but the older I get the more I realize I don't really like people enough to want to be shoulder to shoulder on the street with a few thousand of them.

Just a little History...Well, I think the crowd for eBay live will not be as big as the superbowl crowd and probably not as rowdy. Everything in New Orleans takes place in the French Quarter which is very beautiful. Jazz is played everywhere. Bourbon street is closed at night for traffic so you can walk the street. Of course there are the usual tours and then they have a river walk which is really nice and a new Harrah's just in case you want to gamble. That is not to far from the French Quarter. Of course they have the usual malls.
There is a train that runs between the french quarter and the river walk and I think it runs behind Harrahs. If it rains watch out as New Orleans is below sea level and the water has no where to go.
Love New Orleans but I am from Wisconsin.

I love New Orleans! I have been there many, many times for business and pleasure. Honeymooned there! We stay in a guest house rather than the big hotels. It's less expensive, lower occupancy tax, and is much more intimate.

Unless you are a native and know the ins and outs, Mardi Gras is best left to the GenXers among us - it is too crowded and rowdy for me.

I wasn't into eBay enough to go to the first Live! event - right down the street from me. But if it's in NO, next year - I'm there. Nothing like writing off a trip to a place you love.

New Orleans is perfect for Super Bowls ... stadium-wise anyway. The largest dome 70,000+ capacity. Warm weather site for a January event. The NFL is about making money and a huge domed stadium simply yells "Cha Ching".

Auction - in terms of the stadium I agree - it's all about the money (which is why the NFL told San Diego to get a new one or they are not coming back). Since a friend of ours is a player I ended up meeting a few guys and the one thing they were all talking about was how great San Diego was for the festivities for the week and how much they hated N.O. - The city was great, Bourbon street was great but in terms of getting around and dealing with all of the festivities it was apparently a nightmare. Our friend said that he would never attend another SB in N.O. unless he was playing in it (not a big chance with his current team).
