I am just wondering if it is just me or are sales bad for everyone. I was doing great up until the last couple of weeks and seems like my sales really took a nosedive. Wonder if ebay will offer another incentive..wish they would do a free listing day. I know some of you don't like fld but it would be nice right now.

Sales are decent, but bidding is way down.
Sold some stuff I expected to sell higher, but....oh well, it got sold!!

I caroused the advertising catagory last nite for quite awhile and things that should have had hits/bids were just sitting there, so seems things are slow for summer.

Buyers getting good deals with no bidding competetion.

Hey, guys, in what categories are buyers getting good deals? I feel like going shopping. I need cruise wear (marcn?), accessories, shoes, and an extra battery for my new spawn of Satan laptop would be great.

Nearly everything is selling, but with lower bids and final prices. I'm not selling high-end things this summer, however, just items to clear my inventory a bit, a lot of old books e.g.

Sales s--k !!! another week has passed and no bids. I don't think you people who say your sales are great spend enough time away form the vendio message boards to even list any auctions much less pack and ship all the items you say you are selling. How much is eBay paying you to say your sales are great.

eBay pay ME? Hey, where do I sign up for that?

NativeAmerican, did it ever occur to you that some people have done the research on what sells, bought the goods cheaply enough and arranged their work days so that eBay selling takes as little effort as possible? Of course we have. It's the only way to make money on eBay.

Just because you can't or won't do it doesn't mean it isn't done.

As for spending time on message boards, I'm a fast reader and even faster typist.

This is a quote from your vendio profile.

Fluffy can always say that her sales are great because she starts everything at a penny with no reserve. If it makes you feel any better, she has had several auctions close without any bids. That must be very demoralizing.

Actually, the eBay id "fluffythewondercat" does belong to me.

I don't think I've ever used it, though.

I've got about a dozen eBay ids now, I think. A while back I reserved every iteration of my main business name that I could get.

NativeAmerican, Are you looking for advice or just looking for somewhere to vent? What is it that are you listing and not selling so many of? I browse many sellers who are doing great, and so am I. I sell antiques. I listed 50 items last week, with starting bids ranging from $9.99 - $99.99. Most items had multiple bids and only one item did not sell. I don't know, maybe that's not a "great" week for high volume sellers but In my opinion, that's a great week, and that's a normal week for me, and I AM HAPPY. If your sales are bad,
change something. Obviously what you are doing isn't working. Don't just look to ebay for ideas ...pick up a magazine covering a subject that interests you to see what new trends are coming.....GO TO TRADE SHOWS.......do something! Just trying to help here, as you are new to the board. I'm well into my 4th year of selling! It is hard work, and can be long hours, but ebay still beats any "job" I can imagine!

That's a common practice. Years ago many sellers would register their ID ( and variations ) on ebay and Yahoo Actions and most of the common free emails such as hotmail.

Fluffy,
Think most catagories are slow right now, but they spurt here and there. I love shopping when its like this..selling..ehhh...

Inot,
You are right. This is work after all. Especially if you try to put some creativity into your auctions. As I am fairly new to selling and collecting, I put alot of time into research and even then sometimes wind up taking a dive and JUST LISTING IT. (Some of my best auctions were stuff I didnt think was going to do well.) That is always the pleasant surprise and one of the things I really love about doing ebay. Of course, there are the disappointments, too. (But I have done better with Vendio - unless that is just a coincidence. Its hard to tell.)

Not in the last month or so I haven't...it's been 100% sellthrough. Must be looking at someone else's auctions.

Things have slowed down for me too. I am not listing any clothing at all..telling any consignors that they have to wait till the end/middle of August at least.

Collectibles and books are moving for me, but I am being careful not to list them for less than would be tragic if they only get one bid. Sometimes I think I am shooting myself in the foot doing that, but then too, I've had my share of One Bid Wonders in the past couple of weeks.

The bottom line is, this, like any business, has its ups and downs and you can't throw in the towel on a slowdown. You wait it out, and like the poster above said, find what you can change, research, rethink. My friend who sells in a brick and mortar (darts, pool, billiards, games and cards of all sorts) always has a major slowdown in the summer too.

I have to be careful when reading threads like this because they can be depressing. I remind myself that such is the nature of message boards and basically any job or business out there. People freak out and think the sky is falling. I just keep doing what I'm doing, and as long as it works for me, I'll continue on.

I List in a lot of different categories. Last week I made 5 sales out of 27 listings.
I was ok with that since I am new. But this week nothing. I am now adding a lot of new items to my vendio store. all kinds of things. But with eBays high fees I can not afford to keep listing with no sales so for in 3 weeks I ran up a eBay bill over $100.00
With only $130.00 in sales and 2 NPB'S NOT VERY GOOD MATH. I do work hard I also sell 3 days a week at a Indoor Mini Mall and sales are way down there to. So for down the Owner of the Mall Has redused the rent to 25% of the orginal cost plus 10%. I am or the internet from 8:00 AM in the morning to 8:00PM at night looking for way to build my business. I don't remember things being this bad in all my 61 years. I have always made money.

Then you're looking at someone else's auctions. Simple as that.

I used to be the only one in my category starting at one cent. Now everyone's doing it.

I have been reading some of the Ebay boards and it seems xxxx is right about dog eat dog.
The boards are complaining about alot of back-bitting among sellers and them doing different things to each other. I cant believe it!!
