I won an auction, but have not yet paid from a user who has been suspended. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Someone who has been NARU'd can't leave feedback, right?

I may be wrong, but from what I understand you cannot get your fees back now and they can leave you feedback. I'm going through the samething myself and I'm praying I am wrong about the feedback thing. Jack started a thread about Ebay making it impossible for NARU's to leave feedback of any kind.

If the bidder is naru you can still get your fees back but they can't leave or receive feedback.

I WON the auction, so there are no fees to recover.

I did just recieve this from eBay Live Help:
robsgarage: Can a NARU leave feedback?
Wes: Click here to send a request to Safeharbor
Wes: No, he won't be able to leave feedback unless he becomes registered again.
I guess that quote thing doesn't work here...

No, he won't be able to leave feedback unless he becomes registered again

And therein lies the problem. Since he is only suspended, he can come back and sock it to you. He shouldn't be able to go back to leave feedback on items prior to his suspension.

Thanks, sapington, I feel a bit better now. Since this bidder has done this now to about 5 sellers, I'm sure he'll be NARU'd before I can even file to get my fees back.

Sorry you ran into this type of seller. Just keep in mind, most of us are good, honest people. We all run into those that aren't at least once.

Cheryl - if a user has their account suspended for a bogus reason why shouldn't they be able to leave feedback when the mistake is cleared up?

Don't assume that ebay is always in the right and that every NARU seller is in the wrong. I had a seller I purchased from that sold in a specific line. They had a number of items shut down citing VERO violaltions. Rather than shut down all actiive supposedly offending (I have quite a few of their items - they are not fakes) items in one shot, they shut down a couple a day so that the seller got three VERO violations in one week and was NARUd. This is a seller with a feedback of over 200 with no negs, no neutrals. I miss them dearly!

Rob - if you won something that you want at a fair price why don't you contact the seller and see what the problem is.

I did have this happen. I sold a piece of Jewelry, buyer paid, I packaged it mailed it and then when in to leave feedback. The feedback function on this buyer was gone. In the meantime she was suspended because of NPB, but she was in the process of trying to get reinstated. I forgot about her, then about a month later in by leave feedback area there was the function to leave her a feedback. She was reinstated.

Someone recently posted here that if an ebay gets NARUed and then gets reinstated with that account and then leaves negative feedbacks for any transactions before the NARU period that ebay would remove those feedbacks.

Wow. You really do learn everything here. To heck with Ebay University!

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I never thought about it that way. Always good to be corrected.

Neo - I have done just that and am waiting for a reply. I just don't want to get myself into a situation that is more bother than its worth - or where I could get negged sometime in the future.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

It seems to me you are lucky the seller got NARU'd before you paid. I am in a situation where the seller got NARU's AFTER i paid and I still dont have the item - I dont think they really had the item to sell! Maybe you could email the seller and said as soon as the NARU is removed you will complete the transaction but you are understandably hesitant to do so beforehand.
