Stop, but is that as many times as you relist it?

I just relisted something and it said Note, this item does not quality for refund of relisting fees. I didnt stop to figure out why....just assumed it was because its the third time relisting? It is because I changed something on it? I guess I better go back and read the thing.

You get one shot at relisting the item within a 30 day period with the free relist.

If you list an item and it was a total dud and you do not want to relist it it again but hate to see that free shot at a relist pass by you can easily ( and almost risk-free ) list another sure seller item in it's stead and change everything. I've never heard of anyone ever getting caught at this by ebay. The search engine only goes back 10-14 days these days anyway.

Let's hear all the Bible-thumpers now say what a bad person I am for cheating Billionaress Meg out of 30 cents.

I don't think that is cheating. But when I relist I usually sell the item the second time around. I did combine 3 auctions into one the last time I listed. So eBay made 60 cents off of me but that auction sold for more than if I would have put the 3 on separately even losing those listing fees.

I hope that's not against the rules. I used that to list a bunch of items after some no sells were just doing poopy.

I hope that things pick up, I will be listing again on sunday....we shall see!

If you get caught, it's against the rules. If you don't then you got a free listing.

They cant fault ya for trying to cut a corner here or there. Where does it say on ebay that is against the rules? I cant even imagine them writing that because you have to be pretty creative to even think of it, why would they want to bring that to someone's attention?

Here are the requirements for relisting items.

You didn't receive any bids on your item if it was a regular (no-reserve) auction.
You are re-listing the same item within 30 days of the closing date of the first listing.
You didn't get any bids that met or exceeded your reserve price (for a Reserve Price Auction).
You have the same or lower starting price (minimum bid price) than the first listing.
If you choose to have another Reserve Price Auction (optional), you re-list the item with the same or lower reserve price.
You didn't list your item using Ad format.

As you can see, you have to relist the same item. I doubt if eBay checks to see if the same item was relisted, but people can go to your original item page and there will be a link to the new relisted page. So, they could report you. I don't know what the penalty is. They'd probably just end the auction and give you a warning. Of course, if you get caught enough, you might be suspended.

BK, thank you for that info. (I think I knew all that basically, I just was unaware you only had one chance at relisting with no fees.) I guess I've never done it more than twice. Sure makes sense for ebay. Could you imagine relisting for weeks and weeks and then finally selling and not having to pay their fees?? hahahhaha thats a dream!

But somebody in here did said something about certain catagories you either cant do it, or there is some restrictions?? (Clothes, I think??) I guess I will find out if I ever get to that catagory and have to relist.

The ability to get caught by the linking to the new auctions was greatly reduced when ebay limited the closed auction seaching from 30 days to the current 10 to 14 days. Ebay would probably not even bother doing anything to a seller if an ebayer turned in the violator. Out of the 9 million ebay auctions now running there must be an easy 150,000 relisted auctions that are not the same item.
Another ebay greed element working against ebay is that is almost impossible to figure out what steps are needed to turn in an ebay violator. It's tough to get your FVF back via an NPB and it's also tough to get caught breaking minor ebay rules.
