Last week on another ebay board there was a discussion about Ebay Live in Orlando and there were a few comments that were very encouraging. The ebay brass announced that the longtime weekly Friday night maintenace downtime would no longer be needed and the indexing time of when an auction is listed and available for searching would soon be down to a ten minute wait.
That's slow but steady improvement of the ebay system.

That is good news as most sellers and buyers are online Friday nights. They should move their maintenance to a Tuesday night or something.

I'm not thrilled with the look of the new auction page, BUT my auctions indexed almost instantaneously this week, which is a HUGE plus.

Maintenance is done Friday mornings roughly 2AM-5AM, EST, not on Friday nites as previously stated.

Now if they'd just fix the feedback system ref: NPBs.

I know you guys are going to hate me but I think there is a major hitch in the giddy-up when it comes to blocking NPBs from leaving feedback.

What i to keep a scam artist from filing NPBAs on all of their victims? Right now the Feedback system is often what shines the light on scam artists. After a couple weeks, the negs start rolling in and people catch so they snare less victims in the waning days before they are finally shut down. If however the scam artist was able to block those negs from appearing just by filing NPBAs god only knows how many more people could be victimized.

The announcement was that NO weekly maintenance would be needed. It was down last night but for something other than weekly maintenance.

Yes, downtime is "Thursday night," but I thought it started at 1:00 a.m. Pacific time (which would make it in the wee hours of Friday morning)...

Not lurkyloo on eBay

There was a thread on OTWA that said that ebay was going to end the weekly maintenace downtime because it was no longer needed. Maybe it hasn't started yet.

For the OTWA lurkers --- real message boards allow sig files! We had a revolution and threw off our moderator oppressors! ( not really, Vendio was broke at the time and laid them off ) ...

Neroter-it would be helpful if you knew the difference between Thurs nite and Friday nite before posting.
