I have an auction ending shortly. It had one bid and I could click on the "number of bids" and bring up the bid history. Trouble is, this bidder had a feedback of -2. 1 positive and 3 negs, all for non-payment and non-response to email. I cancelled the bid and blocked her from bidding. I used the reason of excess neg fb for no pay. The problem is, now that there are no bids, neither I nor her nor anyone else can find a way to access the bid history and read the reason for the cancellation until or unless it receives another bid. That means I will have to answer her email and give her the reason I cancelled her bid if she hasn't figured it out already. Under the old page layout, the bid history was always accessable, even if there were no active bids. I'm wondering if this is the way it is now with the new layout, or am I overlooking something?

Sounds like a poor change in the new layout.

Now on Fixed Price auctions ebay only gives the email of the winner. Is the winner a good or bad ebayer feedback-wise? To find out you have to put the email address in the Find Members function with the special code to get the ebay ID and then you have to place the ID in the bidders search function. All of that because the winning ID is not present. Another change in the new layout is when a revision is made to an auction a red notation says " Auction Revised " right on top of the description box. The red lettering shows very prominently.

In the ebay announcement page:

***Thanks for your feedback on the new Item Page!***
Date: 07/09/03 Time: 02:40:39 PM PDT

Many members have contacted us about the new Item Page that was previewed to the Community starting in May and released on Monday, July 7th. We appreciate all of the feedback you have sent us and are keeping track of your comments as we plan future enhancements.

In the coming weeks, we will be addressing several issues, including:

Modifying the item title bar so the item number will print out fully when printing in portrait mode.
Adding Second Chance Offer information to the status section when a seller is looking at their own item.
Correcting a problem with the bid history link that prevents the bid history from being accessed when a bid retraction results in no active bids on an item.
Some members have also expressed concern about the Photo Preview (the top picture) which currently only works with eBay's Picture Services. We understand this concern, and are pleased to announce that we will be enhancing this feature to allow self-hosted images in the upcoming months. The top picture placement will continue to be free to sellers.

To discuss the new Item Page and plans for future enhancements, we will soon be holding a Brown Bag Lunch event with the eBay Product Team. Please check this board for updates on the date, time and discussion board location of this event.

We appreciate all the input our Community has provided and look forward to continuing to work with you on future enhancements.

Regards,
eBay

Auction - if they did a BIN - why do you care? Send the notice - they either pay or they don't. If macy's doesn't need a buyers credit history to take their credit card why do you need their feedback history to accept their payment?

Sapington...Thanks for that announcement. I found it ironic that Ebay would ask to post an explanation for a bid cancellation and then make it inaccessable to anyone. I figured it was probably an oversight on their part. Maybe they need to implement a new policy about 3 martini lunches for the software development team?

Auctionace... I agree, that revised item statement in red letters doesn't set too well with me either. It looks too much like a warning to prospective bidders that the seller is running a shell game.

Try using this URL and add your auction # to the end.

Hey, it matters. There's a world of difference between an ebayer with a -2 feedback rating and an ebayer with a spotless 100 rating. Don't you like to know the odds of getting paid?

Ace - don't take this wrong but.... No. I couldn't care less. Once one set of auctions is over I look at what sold and put my attentions on setting up the most appropriate for the next launch. Why drive myself crazy wondering and worrying if someone is going to pay. They either are or they aren't. If after 10 days they haven't I file, 10 more I file again and percentages or probablity have no effect on the actual outcome.
