A friend of mine has a lease for her husband's car.
Husband died.
She wants to get rid of the car.
Can she sell the lease on Ebay?
or can she sell the car on ebay and payoff the lease with the funds?

She cannot sell the lease. Since you have to either turn the car in or buy it out at the end of the lease she probably should find out what the obligation is to the leasing company before she even attepts to sell it since she will have to purchse it from the lease company before she can legally sell it.
If she does not want/cannot afford the lease the best bet is to contact the leasing company, expalin that the leasee has passed away and make arrangements for them to get the car.

Neon is correct auto leases can't be legally transfered by sale. You need the title to sell a car. If the car is in her husbands name only she might be able to get out of this mess. It might be wise to spend a few bucks and let a lawyer look at the lease to see what her options might be. I doubt if she'll receive much help or sympathy from the auto dealer or leasing agent they will only want the money.

if her name is not on the lease, then all she has to do is take it with a copy of the death certificate to the dealership....she is not responsible for the debt...
