Replace the picture with:
Winning bidder gets 50% off, and free overnight shipping.

or

Find something gross to photograph & change the picture.

Be sure to come back & give us the auction number.

The "change the picture" ideas are the best. I don't see my pics getting stolen because I sell vintage and antique items. But, the day one does get stolen. . . .

I have a great picture of my cat walking away from... Being a happy cat, her tail is held high!

To replace a picture you change the file name to whatever the stolen picture's file name is. You then delete the picture from your host and replace it with the new picture that has the same name as the one you've just deleted.

This only works if they link to your picture. A REAL theif will Download the picture to their computer and load it to their server. If they did that, all you can do is complain to Ebay. Perhaps file a viro against them.

95% of all picture theft is done by right mouse clicking of the legal owner's picture and saving it to their computer and then hosting it as their own image and then using it an auction. You can do nothing about these images other than reporting the violators to ebay which hates to get involved in picture theft issues.
If you're in the lucky 5% minority and the thief is merely using your image link then you can change your image to any one your prefer to punish the thief. The changed image must be hosted on the web like the original. If you have an auction still running with the original image you can revise that auction(s) and reload the same image with a different name.

Thanks for telling us how to do it. Now many won't have to work! as hard. As far as e bay HATES to get involved the last time it happened to me in 3 days POOF his auction vanished!

Anyone with a third grade edumacation knows how to copy web images. It's very simple and only a lazy person would copy and use an image link.

The only way to really end this problem is to put your ID into the image. The best way is to use an image application that will automatically insert a "watermark" into your pictures.

Here's an example:

I use Snagit, but there are many other applications that will allow you to do this.

There are ways to wash the signature off or in the case of your photos crop out the signature. Fortnately most theives are lazy and they will not take the time to do that.
