Yes, I received that email also & forwarded it to SafeHarbor, who did confirm it was a scam. Now all of my auctions have been cancelled. See my posts!

yes I read your post after I made mine. Yes I forwarded mine also. I would think there would be an easier way to make money than try and do this. Nothing is sacred anymore.

Isn't that obviously a scam letter to everyone? If that email can harvest some passwords ( which may be the same as the paypal password ) then a truly clever letter has a very good chance of harvesting valuable passwords.

Just wanted to fill you in on the developments since I posted this morning.
#1 - 7:17 Am Pacific time - an email in response to my email to Safe Harbor.
"Hello,
Thank you for writing in to Safe Harbor with your concerns, I will be
happy to assist you.
In looking through the information you have provided, I have found that
your account was removed from the site due to a technical error. I
apologize for the frustration this has caused.
Your account has been noted that the suspension was not correct and has
been reinstated.
Again, I apologize for this difficulty. Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Investigations Team
Safe Harbor Department
#2 - Ebay called my house this afternoon to advise that our password had been stolen. They told us to change our password ASAP.
First of all, I appreciated the quick response from Safe Harbor, but what kind of "technical error" was this? I did, by the way include my phone number in my email to Safe Harbor & eBay.
I was glad that Ebay called. They did not ask for our password or anything else. They did send a followup email. I immediately changed our password. Now, I will change my password on all of my accounts, including this one, PayPal, email, etc. Now I wonder how they knew that our password was stolen!
My suggestion to everyone - change your passwords. I think there is a full moon out tonight!

You should change your passwords regularly. Never, ever use the same one for Ebay and Paypal. I keep all my passwords in a lockbox on my desk here at home. Should I forget one, it's available. I'd be lost without this box since I have a different password for the utility companies, banks, etc.

I just updated some contact info, and then I get this email about some of my info is not --forget the exact wording they used -- but its not right. So of course, i think okay, maybe I keyed something wrong? But it was a scam because it told me I was restricted from bidding until I re-entered all my info (take the link) so and I went and bid .99 on a reserve auction and I was not restricted. Sent it to safe harbor.

Gee, I always answer those things fully. And with lotsa bogus info.
Maybe that's why I don't get them anymore.

It all depends on your email address if you get the dcam leters unles you have your email address in your auction someplace.
If you a common sound prefix to your email you will be on massive email spam lists. Example: Sue798 is a common word or name and an email address generator will include all combos of Sue. If you have an odd email address such as [email protected] then the generators should never come up with that address.

I was also told by my ISP that putting a dot in there somewhere is good for that. As in [email protected].
Mine is like that, and I've only received two scam letters. No spam to speak of, either.
