Does anyone have a thought on how to describe these two drinking vessels? They've got a mark of "Germany" on the bottom along with "Handarbeit" (handworked) as well.

I can tell they are hand-thrown on a potter's wheel because I can see the circular marks (is there a better way to say that?) inside.

the inside:

and the bottom:

Again - thanks for any guidance you can provide.

I'm not at all sure how to say what you want to say. Probably what you have is fine.

These are very nice mugs!

I have about 2 dozen handmade mugs (by potters) in the U.S., no two alike. Very nice ones, and I don't think I have a prayer of ever selling them on ebay. Too many mugs out there in the world. If you stumble on the right category, please post it here!

Thanks, Roadsmith.... I know they didn't cost us much.

I think they'll end up listing for a low starting bid to see if we can move them out the door.

Wayne..Stay away from the pottery and glass catagory. They'll get buried there. Go to collectables> breweriana, beer>drinkware, steins> mugs> Germany. That will be your best bet. They look like something that was made for a special occasion. Perhaps a wedding or a local Oktoberfest. The people who haunt that category will know what you have. Be prepared to revise your description on short notice if you start getting emails from Germany or from collectors giving you information on them.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

"hand-thrown"?

Is that after you finish the drink?

Sparkz - Thanks for the category suggestions!

AA and TP - you just keep your mitts off of my mugs! Of course, the winning bidder can do what they want with them....
