I've been busy ID-ing a number of items the past 2 weeks and can't seem to come up with ANYthing on this nice German celery bowl.
Has anyone come across this mark before? Any thoughts on where else to look - aside from the obvious searches on Google, Dogpile and Yahoo?
Here's what it looks like:
Here's the overall image of it:
I appreciate any suggestions on how to describe this sweet piece.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
Wayne

To me it looks like chintz with a lacy edge. I wouldn't call it a celery bowl. Maybe celery server. Relish dish someone might call it, but bowl doesn't sound elegant enough....

Hi Wayne, Can't tell you about the mark, but this is called a reticulated dish or bowl (that's what the lacey border is called) which is very popular in German porcelain. I usually do well with any reticulated piece. Good Luck!

Thanks, CC and SW. I had heard "reticulated" before and you reminded me. That was very helpful.
SW - I've e-mailed the site to see what they can come up with - I've looked everywhere and can't figure this mark out.
FWC - The last person I heard use "Egads" was someone in The Music Man. Hey - I guess we'll see if 60's screen printing is back in style. Others have said here that if it's offensive, then someone will probably want it! Thanks for the encouragement, Fluffy.

McJane - Hey - I think you're right. Sounded like the same thing, but now that I see it in writing, the memory is much clearer!
Thanks
Wayne
