Hi everyone,
My son's fiance has asked me to sell for her a HUGE amount of Sebastian cosmetic products. Hundreds of items... make-up, eye shadow, lip gloss, lipstick, you name it.
I've already listed some and it's selling nicely but there's so darn much I'm thinking it might be a good idea to batch it up and sell in lots.
Any opinions/ideas on this?
All I know is when I buy make-up, etc., on eBay, I don't mind at all buying more than one.

I used to sell, of all things, USED/TESTER makeup. It sold like hotcakes, despite the fact that I stated it was "gently tested X times". I always guessed on the X.
I would often have a dozen or more of the same product so I'd do dutch auctions and they were incredible. I always found that the end price was only $1-2 off of retail. I always tried to keep in mind that women are always going to buy makeup AND it NEVER goes on sale, it just has "Gift with Purchase" bonuses. Even when a cosmetics company discontinues an item, they usually don't discount it at all. So my assumption is that women are happy to get any discount on their products, despite the fact that they've been used! Hope this is just a tad helpful!

Lucy,
Hi. I think unless you are tired of listing it piece by piece, you do better money-wise that way. But like wendy said, the make-up always seems to sell.

and look out if you offer a lipstick color that has been discontinued...some women will pay big bucks for that special color

Another thing is if you lump it together there might be somethings in there the buyer doesn't want so they won't bid. If you are doing good selling them single I would stick by that.
Wendy, did you put the retail price in your listings?
It hadn't occurred to me that makeup doesn't go on sale...
There are only a few things without their original boxes and a couple of lipsticks that have been color tested. I was gonna toss them but now I won't.
As far as Dutch, I'm thinking the Second Chance might be a better way to go. I've used it on a few things and the underbidder was very happy to get what they bid on.
