Is there anything I can do? Will ebay do anything if I report him? He has it uploaded to ipix so I can't just delete my pic.

Send the thief this url from ebay and if nothing happens report him. You must show proof that it is your picture. Has the auction closed or did you list it before them? You can prove it from the date on the auction. If so eBay should shut that auction down. You have to make the decision what you want to do. Close it by eBay or have the person remove the picture.

To protect yourself, your should watermark your pictures with your eBay ID. Many imaging applications will allow you to do it. The other alternative is to put plain text over the image, but that can be distracting.

Here's an example of using a watermark:

Depends on the picture. Those tires are a BAD example.

It would take 10 seconds or less to crop out the watermark from that image and still have a completely usable picture of those wheels. If I knew how to post a picture here, I could show you how easy it would be to steal and re-use thatimage.

But it can't hurt... If they are too lazy to take their own photo, what's the likelihood of them going to the trouble of editing a photo?

Vendio is in the process of unveiling a watermark tool that can be used for pictures hosted on their site. They haven't announced an exact date, but it should be soon.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I meant.

So... how *DO* you post a picture here?

How did you handle it? Did you report them or write them an email?

Replay, do this to post a photo.
I right clicked on the photo of the wheels with "Robs Garage" then I clicked on properties
& copied the address (URL) then pasted it in this message & added the [img] [$/img] Before & after.
But, be sure to leave out the $ so the picture will show.
All you need is the URL & then add [img] [$/img] before & after.

Copy & paste this, remove just the $ & that's all there is to it.

How about this one:

Better. But, using a cloning tool, you can remove your watermark and re-insert the title Owner's manual. It's really a matter of where there's a will, there's a way.

OK, that did take about 15 minutes, but I am in no way a graphics expert... I had to figure out the "blur" tool first.

I also didn't take as much time as I could have with the font, which obviously doesn't match, but with another 10 minutes, it could be as good as new.

The real point is that there is *NO* completely secure way to protect yourself. You can make the watermark so big that it covers the entire image, but then the value of the picturte to YOU is destroyed.

Ahem... The final round.

This took even less time than the lst one. Because I cheated. But then picture thieves *DO* that!

I am not a picture thief on eBay.

Sorry it took me so long to get back here and thank you for your help. I turned it in to ebay and and they canceled all his auctions. Thanks again.

Well, not ALL his auctions, just the ones with my pictures. Thought I'd better clear that up.

Thanks for the update. I would keep an eye on that seller and see what he does...
