I have one almost like it but it has turquoise instead of onyx. Well, after you posted this I searched my books, ebay etc but couldn't find a thing on this necklace. I know when I bought mine she said she had purchased it in Mexico. Sorry I can't think of anything to call this...

This Necklace is very appealing to the teen-aged group of girls at my house 5 of the 6 said they wanted it lol so maybe you should put Gothic somewhere in the title...the 6th girl said she already had something like it...Stunning Gothic SS Drop Necklace

Looks like it is from Peru. Is it marked sterling? Most are a silver metal.
I think it's called a festoon or bib style necklace with black onyx. It has an ethnic look to it and this jewelry does look good on the right person.
Here is an auction with a festoon necklace... don't know what they were thinking when they used black font on the dark blue background though.

Kiara - From what I have been told - you hit the nail on the head with Peru. It's not marked sterling - I think it's that infamous Alpaca Silver.
