I bought this necklace at an estate sale and need some help in guessing it's age. The woman who owned it was 90+ when she died and from Germany originally. The drops are faceted glass and the rest is metal as far as I can tell. It is definately not sterling. It's an odd necklace. Like a lavalier, but not quite? Don't even know what to call it. Please help!

I'm also going to need help with an Edgar A. Poe book that I can't find reference to anywhere! Later for that.

Cheryl,Its a slide necklace,The date may be hard to figure.I dont think its antique, maybe vintage,40s 50s and may be newer then that, going by the hangers on the glass.Very modern style piece, hard call on the age....

it is beautiful though..green is my favorite color and costume jewelry is my passion

i don't think this is really a slide necklace though...the slide on a slide necklace can make it different lengths and tightness around the neck by using the slide..it doesn't look like you could do that with this necklace.

You can't "slide" this necklace. As you can see from the photo, the loop in the metal is stationary. You have to slip the chain into the loop sideways. It's difficult to do on your own.
