This isn't eBay related but I think I am about as technically advanced as any of my friends (and that ain't saying much!) and I don't know where else I would find a group of computer experts...I appreciate the help you've given me..the scanner I was about to scrap is working great!..here's another couple of questions...

I'd like to know how you stop all the extra applications from lauching when you reboot (you know all the ones that show up by the clock?)..I can't remember how I did it when I was running Windows 98 - now I have XPHome and I can't even figure out what to call it to look it up in help.

Also when I do the "3 finger" salute (CTRL-ALT-DEL) I have a bazillion processes running...which ones are essential and can I close some of them??

AND FINALLY! HOW DO YOU GET RID OF THAT EBAY TOOLBAR???

Neglus,
Click on "Start" then "Settings" then "Task Bar and Start Menu". Just click Customize for a complete list of what's by the Clock. You can control those icons from there.

XP is a bit buggy. I lost the calendar function, which I used, and can not get it back in the task bar. My son, the programmer, couldn't restore it either. And I have found that some things disappear and reappear on thier own.

As for that eBay thingie, I never got it.

Good luck!

Just be careful. I lost my cipher strength and cannot get it back no matter what I do. And, I don't even know what I did that made it disappear

Thanks to Vendio users I am doing great with Opera but I still have to use IE to check my emails and that is doing a few wierd things as well.

To say XP is a bit buggy is an understatement!

1-right click start one time
2- right click run one time
3- type msconfig
4-click ok
5-right click startup (right hand conner on the top)
6- uncheck all but the "systray"
7- right click ok.
8-restart..

lindajean,
I put my computers together with the help of friends and have been using some form of the worst operating system on the planet since 1996, currently WIN2000, but for some reason I have no idea what a cipher strength is. I meant to ask this in your other thread but got distracted. Can you enlighten me please.
Thanks, Don
