Since a virus has screwed up my computer so bad I am afraid it will crash soon, not to mention the headaches it is causing right now, I am going to re-format. The biggest pain in the behind about reformatting is installing all software again etc. which will take at least a whole day. Also have to get the cable company out to reinstall software and get me back online!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to copy all my emails to disk but can't figure out how. I can't even find them by going into "my computer". I have tried from OE but to no avail @#$%@! I sure wish whoever created the virus would have to come to my house and fix the computer plus every other computer they messed up. This virus, a Trojan horse, was so sly it updated itself constantly so Norton had to keep deleting it. I think it is gone but not entirely sure.

I have separate email folders for EOA, listings, confirm payment sent, deadbeats, ebay invoices etc. I want to put them on a CD so if I happen to need them.

Help!!! Please!!!

I hate this happened to you!

go into OE, click on "tools" - "options" - then the "maintenance" tab...

there is an option 2/3s of the way down "Click Store Folder to change the location of your message store"

this will tell you where your emails are on your computer, or allow you to create new place to copy to disc...

hope this helps

I can't help with your current woes, but I wonder if you would consider abandoning Outlook Express when you reinstall your OS.

There are other, better mail readers for Windows, notably Eudora.

Thanks!! It worked!

Now waiting on Norton to email me. Reformatting will erase Norton and install McAfee which I hate. I need to know how to download the anti-virus and firewall again without paying again since I just paid for the recent upgrade about 3 months ago.

Thanks again wgm!

glad you got it!!

I had something similar happen with Norton (we lost our house to fire on Memorial Day - thankfully we made it out safely, but we lost everything, including my computer), and they were terrific about helping me get Internet Security reinstalled when I got my new computer - here is telephone # in case you don't have it...

If you have windows 98 with OE 5.0 you can try this.

Create a new folder on your desktop and called in Something like Emails back up or something like that. Then in OE

In OE
click on Edit click on select all
Then click on Edit again and click on copy to folder. Select the new folder you just created.

When you copy them onto a CD, just copy that folder. Make sure that the new folder that you created copies over all of your inbox, sent emails and deleted. You mught want to make subfolders to hold each type so you dont get confused on which is which.
