I received a postcard I ordered on eBay shipped with $ .47 Endicia postage label. My postcards either cost .37 or .60 to ship (depending on weight - a hair over 1 oz and i have to pay .60) ..so what's up with the .47?

Is it a discount on the .60 rate? It just says "first class" on the label - not delivery confirmation or media rate..

Edited to add: I'd also like to know why there is no "cent" key on the keyboard! PIA to type $ .xx!!

LOOK AGAIN: are you sure it donna be $0.49??

$0.49 is the rate for ODD-SHAPE FIRST CLASS MAIL -- maybe he chose this ionstead of the POSTCARD rate of 23 or 37 cents -- many folks think postcards cost same as FIRST CLASS!

YIKES~ My eyes aren't clear this am! It is .49 ... it was shipped in a 4x8 bubble envelope...is that the first class 1 oz rate for odd shaped envelopes?

I don't think the "postcard" rate applies to postcards shipped INSIDE another envelope! Thanks Tom !

That is the rate with E Delivery Confirmation. It is not free for 1st class.

First class with e/DC is $.50 for one ounce.

I never knew that oversize fee was required. I never had a problem not using it.
Here is what I found about it:
What is Oversize/Nonstandard?

It is always best to check with the Postal Service about current guidelines for oversize and nonstandard mailpieces. Information is available at http://usps.com or from your local postal representative.

Here are some sample guidelines (from March 2001):

First-Class Mail under 1 ounce is considered nonstandard or oversize if one or more of the following conditions is met:

- Over 1/4 inch thick
- Over 11 1/2 inches long
- Over 6 1/8 inches high
- Aspect ratio (length divided by height) less than 1.3 or more than 2.5

For example, a square envelope has an aspect ratio of 1.0 and so it would require the nonstandard surcharge if it weighs under 1 ounce.
