While listing on eBaY, received backdoor.trojan that hit payload.dat

Any suggestions? Norton caught it, but nothing is happening.

WHAT do ye want to happen ?? !!

Just goto QUARANTINE & dump the sucker!

BTW: virtually impossible for a trojan to arrive in yer Commodore64 just from "listing at feeBay!"

That is hard to believe... about getting it while listing on eBay...

If it is in quarantine... let it rot there... not going to do anything.

The trojan virus could attack while listing on ebay but that doesn't mean it came from ebay. It almost certainly didn't come from ebay but from some other source and just happened to appear while listing on ebay. It is illogical to suppose any other scenario ( Mr. Spock-like )

In the quarantine section it should have the email listed that it arrived with. I doubt it came from eBay.

Land,
you did not bother me.

But now wondering if ebay is riddled with trojans etc. I never thought they were!

If Norton quaranteed the trojan, you should be able to delete it. What's the name of the trojan?

Landotter=====

I got a back-door Trojan also about a month ago but don't know where I got it. Norton said it caught it but it evidently didn't extract it all. A week later when I did the live update with Norton my screen went black then a big red window came up saying Norton found part of a virus and deleted it. Two weeks later I scanned the whole hard drive for viruses and Norton found two. On details Norton said "a back-door Trojan that disguises itself as adware and updates itself on the Internet". Never heard of that before but I'm sure Norton knows.

You need to scan for viruses and be sure to update Norton at least every other day. They evidently had an update that removed the part of the virus it didn't get the first time. On the first removal it did say it was unable to fix something but don't remember what it was. Because of all this it looks like I am going to have to do a partial reformatting if not the complete which will take a day or two to do......what a pain.

Hope you get the virus taken care of before it does anymore damage.
