Okay, can somebody tell me what to do if you have multiple auctions say for spoons. One is for state of Maine, the next CA., NJ, and so on. You list each seperately, and say in the auction if you'd like to buy them all email me.

What do you do if someone says yes, I'd like to buy them all? (I cant believe I did this without even knowing what I am doing!!)

How do you square it with ebay? Does the buyer bid on all of them? Bid on one and take the rest down? I didn't put a BIN, so even if she bids how do I do this now? Can I even do it??????????

I guess if you wanted to do it all legal like you'd have to cancel all your auctions for the spoons and then make one listing with a buy it now or fixed listing price.Tell the buyer it's up and ready for them to buy.

This could be taken as selling off Ebay: A NO-NO!

If someone wants them all tell them to bid on them all, then you can close the auction early with them as the buyer.

If the starting bid total is more than the price you quoted to the customer for all.

Just tell them to bid and you will only charge as quoted.

I do this once in a while with BIN customer offers,I accept.
I tell them to use BIN but only pay price offered.

Never had a problem.

It's the classic 'shall I break the units down or lot them off' situation. The pros of breaking the sets are that more buyers will buy individual items they need for collections than lots because of the reduced cost. The cons are that it's a pain to list the individual items and the listing fees add up fast especially when the auctions do not sell.

You can not mention any hints of side deals or choices or ebay and or it's search software may close down your auctions and refund your listing fees. You can list the items individually and if an ebayer wants to buy them all you can try to make the deal offsite. The chances of an ebay employee trying to trap you are about one-in-a-million. The drawback is that the person should pay you before you end the auctions early or you risk them backing out of the deal and then you have to relist the items.

Start them at a penny with no reserve and try to make at least $3 on your shipping costs and you'll get bids and move the items. And no combining on s/h!

thanks all

yeah, thats what i am afraid of. If i change them or pull them down, what if she backs out? And I did offer a mark down to buy all...so I guess I will have to go in and change every one otherwise, I will be paying the final fee on 10.00 more than I am actually selling them for.

I havent heard back from her, so now I dont even know if i want to do this.

oh @#@*!!...another bright idea gone bad......lol./......

hey you know, they are saying #*!@ sh**(the S word...ooooo) on network tv now? Heard it the other night on a show! think it was a fox channel. Couldnt believe mine ears!

The Osburnes still have every other word replaced with a bleep and that includes whatever the kids say. That old guy is incredible. They should use him on a don't use drugs commercial.

Did you really offer a discount if someone wanted to buy them all?

I think I'd tell this buyer to bid on all of them, and if he/she gets them all I'll refund X dollars at the end as well as combine shipping as much as possible. Sounds like you're getting good hits already.

Worst case, if most of them don't sell, you can then offer the unsold ones to this person off ebay since he/she initiated the deal. I think. JMHO

I don't see much difference in your situation and that of a seller with a set of china. Break it down to individual pieces or pairs and list seperately. Use each auction as an opportunity to call the bidders attention to the other auctions you have listed for items in this pattern or collection. Play up the part about being able to save big bucks on shipping by combining multiple wins. I do this every day and it works quite well for me.

yeah, thanks all.

I really screwed up. I should have consulted here before I did it. I just changed them to a bin for the buyer. Bet I am losing some money doing it this way.

::eyeroll::.....one day the girl shall learn.

Somebody shoot me, please.

I just changed ten auction to BIN for this PERSON and after she BIN's seven she emails me she is done now, and owes me XXX.

I emailed back, no, the deal was only good for ALL of them.

I wasted my whole friggin nite doing this! So I decided to look at her FB. She has 6 negs out of 179 for nonpayment.

Ebay said I could file NPB as she is not holding up her end the deal, but will I get 7 negs from her?? I only have over a little 100 trans myself....7 negs will really hurt me, dont you guy think???

Now listen, honey, don't give up. YOu've got a decent amount, right, for 7 of the 10 and you didn't have to wait until all those auctions are over.

Don't get mad OR get even. And I wouldn't leave negs, either. Write an e-mail thanking this lady for the short seminar in ebay 101; she's helped you learn something very valuable tonight. And then erase the e-mail! Do not send. You'll never do it again quite this way, thanks to her bad manners.

Now, since you've sold 7 of the 10, if I were you I'd leave the BIN on the others, or end the auctions, one or the other. And just move on. (A hypnotherapist would tell you to either Put that Book back on the Shelf or Close the door and Walk Away.)

If it's any consolation, this buyer is headed for Buyer Purgatory anyway, where she'll only be allowed to drink Wal-Mart wine. She is taking Dr. Phil's advice and teaching people how to treat her!

Oh, one more thing--put her on your blocked bidder list.

I was only kidding on not combining s/h. I manage to lose money on the s/h on many of my auctions but must make some buyers happy.

I wouldn't have placed a BIN on the auctions because someone wanted to possibly buy them. They can paypal the money as quasi cash and then you can end them. Now the buyer is trying to cherry pick out the best ones with the auction process. If I have any uncertainty at all of what an item may bring on ebay then I never even entertain the possiblity of using a BIN or fixed price auction format. That is the fun of selling on ebay, an item may bring $50 instead of the $5 you thought it'd bring. If it is a common item like a Dilbert book you can use the BIN to get more for it than a non-BIN seller might get as you now have a way to snag a few impulse or impatient buyers that don't know that most common books are almost nothing on ebay or Half.com.

Just send her the items she bought when she pays for them. She is under no obligation to buy the other items. Any deal you make on the side doesn't hold water and can only get you kicked off ebay. If it's not in the description and tos, it's not valid. Learn from this experience and move on to try to sell the remaining spoons.

Yup, the side deal giveth and the side deal taketh away. Chalk it up to expierence and block the bidder. I see shrewd buyers at the flea markets cherry pick the best items from novice sellers all the time. It's all part of the learning process.

yeah, i guess so......(saying that all slummped and surley)

But actually it wasnt an outside deal. It said it right in description: "if you'd like to buy ALL of them, email me for a price break."

But I screwed up. Take my lumps on move on....."::sniffle, sniffle::hand me a tissue please...)

Thanks much for all your advice. I do appreciate it!!!

IMHO,
until the money is in hand, let them ride. If your buyer wants to send a PayPal payment ASAP and does, then great. Sell them. We are all here to make money. Then don't cancel the auctions, just change them. Revise the items that you sold to a different item so you don't lose the listing fees plus you have a chance to sell something else with the same listing. But DO NOT change a thing until you have been PAID.

Stone,
That is what I am doing. I will wait and see if she sends me the money! (I almost hope she doesnt so I can relist them and get a decent buyer!)
