Will I buy from someone who does not state shipping cost!

I hate buyer to pay actuall shipping, or to be determined after auction is over.
Leaves yourself wide open for the surprise of your life.

I bought an item last night from someone right here with a Vendio store.

There was no shipping stated, went through his paypal invoice, no shipping stated.

Figured shipping was included in price!

Now he Emails me after I paid telling me to send more money for shipping, which will double the cost of the item.

Never Again!

I do this all of the time. My TOS states that actual shipping charges will given to the winning bidder. Charges will be determined by Zip Code & weight. Have never had a complaint. But then again, I don't try to rip anyone off.

This store sale stated nothing!
Not actual.
Not to be determined.
Not fixed.
Not in add, not in invoice.
After I paid with paypal,I get the good news.

One time I bought something for my neighbors boy for his Quad, stated actual shipping.
When the package came, the postage sticker showed we paid 3 times the actual shipping.
And I'm allowing for packing materials!

I didn't want to buy it but he's a kid and didn't care about price just getting item!

But why not invest a little more effort as a seller and provide weight, zip it's shipping from, and shipping method (ie. USPS Priority, UPS, FedEx Ground) - so that your buyers can do a little calculation themselves. Or, you could even use the eBay shipping calculator that does that for you - and you can add a little padding for your packaging expenses, too.

I don't do that - mostly just set a flat rate. I eat a bit on some and am a few cents over on others. Have not had one complaint about having a flat rate shipping cost specified up front.

Wait - maybe that's because there are so many sellers who make you guess - it just stands out because it's a known cost.

I hate asking sellers for shipping costs - partly because they can take FOREVER to respond to an inquiry and I'd like to make my buying decision now - not 3 days from now. You've invested the time to get me interested - good pics, good description - why not tell me the weight and the zip code you're shipping from - and I can do my own figuring to be sure it's not out of line?

I bet there are plenty of buyers who will pass up an auction because they don't know the cost of shipping.... But then again, they'll come to mine...

Now that I think about it -- don't anyone change.... I like it the way it is...

I use a flat shipping rate, regardless of how many auctions. Haven't had a complaint yet...

Using flat rate is fine if your selling like items, but I don't. One pkg may be a pound & the next 10 lbs. If anyone emails me & wants to know the shipping cost I will be glad to give it to them if they give their zip code. Some things I ship Priority Mail & some by FedEx Ground. I ususally ship up to 3 lbs. by Priority Mail. & over that by FedEx. I try to give the buyer the best deal on shipping.

When a seller puts an item in his/her Vendio store, it does not put the quantity available, terms of service, or shipping costs in the auction description.

Compared to placing an item in Ebay, when an item gets placed in the Vendio Store, one would think the shipping, and terms of service etc. would go in the Vendio Store like it does in the other venues.

It does not.

This person may have intended for shipping and terms of service to be in his description, but Vendio strips that information out before listing.

I have items in my Vendio store.
If you go there you will see the shipping cost!

We'll I just sent him $9.30 for a $9.90 item!
I wouldn't have minded so much if I knew going in!

There are items I sell where shipping is 4 times the cost of the item!

But my customers don't need to guess.

I sold an item early in this internet Buss. when I didn't know any better.
Where one of the shipping choices showed $0.00.
The customer selected that (wonder why?)
I honered it!
But I also corrected it real fast!

It was a little naive to suppose the shipping was included just because there was no mention of it. Were there any free shipping mentions? Isn't there an email link in the stores to ask questions?

I personally try to state an exact shipping amount in every auction no matter what. I know there have to be many potential bidders that seriously check out auctions only to backspace out when they can not find any shipping amount.
I hate selling items over two pounds that are not books or other Media Mail items as I live on the West Coast but 70% of the nation lives on the East Coast. That leaves Parcel Post or Priority Mail as I will not hassle UPS or FedEx for a rare heavy package.

MY A$$

If you have a link to paypal to walk you through paying.

And you do it!

Should you expect to receive another bill for shipping!

Part 2/two will be delivered tomorrow!

You should always assume the seller is an idiot and doesn't know anything. Never hit a buy button without knowing for certain the shipping.

I charge close to actual shipping as I can. In my listing if it is a heavy item I always say postage to be determined at the end of the auction by the buyers zip code. Then I add the weight of the item including packaging material so that the buyer can calculate it them selves. My zip code is in the information section of the auction. Even if I wanted that item I would never have bid that with no postage. Now you know why your emails went unanswered because the seller didn't want to tell you.

Libra63:

This isn't the same item!

The one your thinking of was an auction on Ebay,I didn't buy!
And he didn't sell!
But he stated shipping of $4.95.

This item was right here in a Vendio store!
Fixed price, that is why I thought shipping was included!

It a good idea to always list shipping cost in your auctions. If its heavy list the pounds you will be shipping and your zip code. Tell them to use www.upsp.gov to look up shipping cost to their zip code.
