I recently sold something that I may not have stock for.

Basically, a few weeks back, I sold 2 items to someone who proceeded to pay by PayPal for only one item. I refunded the money with instructions on paying the combined total. Anyway, no response from that individual for like 2 weeks before I get an e-mail asking where his purchase was at (he only listed the one he initially paid for). This was last weekend. I informed him that he actually won 2 items, told him I refunded him with instructions on combined totals, asked him to check his e-mails and resent all the combined info.

Nothing all week from this person. Well, last night someone purchased one of these items off my website. I thought I had 2 left, but I was wrong. Now my problem is if they both pay then I will be one short.

Any advice? I can always order another case but these things haven't sold especially fast so I may just be stock with stock. And they may not pay so then. There's a chance I could find one locally but it would have the price tag on it, and always risk leaving residue and damaging the packing during removal. I do know how to remove tags but there is always a chance.

Anyway.. not sure which route to go.

It sounds like the odds of the first buyer ever paying are either slim or none. You can always say the required time period to conclude the transaction has expired and he is excused from the deal if he insists on trying to pay the corrrect amount.

tfs, unless your willing to get a neg for this..I'd buy another one and keep it if it doesnt sell right now, you think it might eventually, right?

Even tho he may have taken a week to figure out what was going on, ebay kinda gives the whole shee-bang ten days, right?

You always have to remember not everybody is like us, and on their computer every day. People go on business trips, vacations, etc., etc. Whats his FB like? Does he seem like a new buyer or an experienced one?

I have a small potential problem
I recently sold something that I may not have stock for.

So: Do what you need to do to correct your problem!

Would you like us to send them one of ours?
Or should we, just restock your shelves for you?!

This don't sound like a problem to me!
It sound like: Irresponsibility to me!

Why go out and buy another one when the first guy is not going to come through with payment? Ride it out with the first guy.

Here's the first bidder's track record

no response from that individual for like 2 weeks

&

Nothing all week from this person

Does that sound like a guy that wants the item badly?

How long is a seller suppose to keep disputed goods? The buyer screwed up ( who proceeded to pay by PayPal for only one item. ) and the seller made restitution ( I refunded the money with instructions on paying the combined total.

Even if the first buyer comes through it is too late for him ( a buyer in the hand is worth two in the bush ... Meg Whitman )
