I contacted a seller to ask what the shipping would be to my zip code for a widget I wanted. Other sellers of this same thing who list shipping have it somewhere between $12 and $15 (it's a pretty heavy item). Well, the seller replied that he hadn't boxed it up yet, but he estimated the cost would be around $30!!!!!! The auction was starting at a good price, but I'm certainly glad I didn't bid on it and then find out what he'd charge for shipping! BTW he DID say it was an estimate, so the final price might be lower if he's REALLY bad at estimating weight--but what a way to turn off a potential buyer!! I can't believe a seller wouldn't have something like that pre-boxed or even pre-weighed.

It can work the other way too.

I am a seller and sold a heavy winter coat and shipped it today to Singapore.
The buyer asked me before the auction ended what shipping would be and I weighed it without the box. I told her $13.00. Ended up being $34.05, whoa.

I'll just eat the cost and not say anything to her but I learned my lesson!

I don't think I'd quote any foreign shipping estimate without looking it up first but I wouldn't send a heavy item outside of the US either. I ship only with the US post office and use their online calculator and add 40 cents for the 25 cent mailer.

You just got your FIRST bidder that did'nt check your shipping charges? and from your score card you have been on e bay for waYYYYY to long for that to finally happen. Amazing! I am really surprised it never happened before.

Doncha just LOVE those that tell YOU how much THEY are going to pay after it was clearly stated RIGHT in the auction...

Do the NPB thing,,,,,20 days of B.S. re list it and for Sure NEG them! Let the world know! They ARE a low life NPB. They will most assuradly come right back and bite you right in the a$$ with lies in their feed back response.

But, what do I,,,know,,,,,I,,,am just a poor little powerseller....3 years on e bay,,,,over 10,000 sales, 1200 feeds and 15 negs...

Don't let them dictate the shipping terms, especially when the shipping terms are clearly stated in the auction description. Some buyers are very bossy and demanding. Stick to your guns and return any negative or neutral feedbacks.

Well returned email said they will be sending the money... will definately wait on giving feedback on this one...

Will give them my standard TOS time limit... and then begin the process

I think I have been lucky never to have this happen before... don't know why... now I have had a fair share of NPB's but they just did the no contact game, not complain about shipping.

Gee I hope I didn't buy from one of you guys. I bought something, didn't see the little "nifty" (HA!) ebay calculator at the bottome of the screen. After winning the seller said $8.00 shipping. I already have the pants and knew how much they weighed etc. I live in FL, they live in FL, so I said "$8.00 shipping from FL to FL?" They didn't answer, just resent me a Pay Your Ebay Seller - so I paid. This was for a $10.00 pair of athletic pants.

Waited a week for it to arrive. Seller shipped for $3.00 parcel post.
