I sold an item over a month ago to an individual who had been an active but never successful bidder on my of my auctions. Although there were numerous emails in the weeks (always wrote asking about he items he was bidding on) prior to his win, he went MIA afterwards.

I sent a reminder. Not a word
I sent a NPBA - I get an email appologizing, his computer crashed, yada yada yada. Payment on the way.
Today the 10 day grace ended and I get, not a payment, but instead an email informing me that he will be in town next week and will stop buy to pay and pick up item at that time.

Who the H*ll does this little pissant think he is? I sent the following reply....

You won the auction on July XXth, five days later you won an auction from a different seller which you paid for.  I did not hear from you until I sent a NPBW and then recieved notice that you were very sorry and would send payment out ASAP.   Now a week later you INFORM me that I must now wait an additional week to recieve payment and also that I must agree to meet personally with a complete stranger.  Neither of those two aspects of this transactions are acceptable.  At this point, enought time has expired that I can file for Final Value credit and cancel this transaction.   Unless I recieve payment in the next 24 hours via a confirmed PayPal account that is what I am choosing to do.  It has been more than a month since you won this auction and I have been more than patient but that patience is now on a timer.  If I have not recieved payment as of 5pm PST tomorrow I will simply file for FVC and we can call this a day.

....anyone want to take bets on whether I will get the payment?

Hey, you have the same vocabulary as me. I love the word pissant. Well to get to the topic your email sounds very professional and to the point. He has the nerve to expect you to meet him without clearing it first. Just common courtesy. Then you have the option of turning him down. If this transaciton means nothing to you go for it. Good Luck

Truth be told - I'll get at least $100 more on this item if I wait until gift season to relist it. I'm more than willing to write this one off.

As for my vocab - I try to be pro when I am writing - of course in my head I am calling them every name in he book. Pissant is one of my favs, especially when teamed up with obnoxious and useless

Not only will you NOT get the payment, he'll contact eBay and whine that you refused to accept payment.

piss·ant [ píss ŕnt ] or piss ant

noun (plural piss·ants)

1. an offensive term for somebody who pays too much attention to small details

2. an offensive term for somebody regarded as being of no importance, significance, or consequence

Regional or not, it all means the same and both ways are acceptable.

I think I learned this term on Vendio/AW.

If I got a letter back like that, I wouldn't pay either. Since this person is offering to pay in person I would have been much more professional about it. (I don't like people coming to my house either)
I would have gracefully asked the bidder to please send the payment as I do not allow any one to receive items at my home. Leave out the rest of the crap as all it does is piss off the other person and sets you up for a retalitory negative. Yes deadbeats suck, but they are a part of the game. Best not to provoke them into giving Negs in return.

Stone - they have not paid for over a month - I could send the little jerk chocolates and flowers and he's not going to pay. He's simply attempting to wait out the window for me to file against him.

As usual your input is blind to the reality of the situation, blatantly dense and one could only hope that it's continuing trend of complete uselessness is intentional in nature.

Anyone waiting over a month to pay for an auction is using the layaway method of purchasing. I don't remember ever seeing an
eBay seller saying they accept layaway in their terms.

Stonecold. These kind of buyers are getting away with dictating terms and do have to be stopped. eBay won't do it because they are getting their cut and appears could care less.

File FVF and NEG the bast--d then move on. If everyone would do this to the deadbeats soon we would have none. eBay needs to delete all retalatory feedbacks left by buyers or sellers. You can spot them a mile off.

After 30 days, & no payment, file the FVF & neg'em. They stalled you long enough. I am doing the same thing today.

Yep, yep and yep! Stick to your guns and file the fvf when you said you would.

THis subject is getting to be a bit sore for me..I have 6 auctions bookmarked right now as reminders to hit the fvf on 8-20 myself (hey, that's today! And of course..ebay's down). I've stopped sending my "have I missed your payment?" reminder even and skipped right to filing an NPB alert after two weeks. I'm hoping this high number of deadbeats this month is just a fluke or phase.

No word from my bidder, I filed against him tonight. I'll wait until Novemenber to relist and get the real value of it.
