Someone bought 50 videos from me for $29.00. She has a feedback of 26. Left me a neutral feedback stating "these videos aren't good for resale". I replied with "she paid 50 cents each and I sell them for $2.00-$7.00 each". What feedback should I give her and how should I word it? I don't necessarily want to give her the first negative, but it's true - the videos I gave her I sell on ebay for $2.00-$7.00 - I just wanted to get rid of stock to make room for a new line of items that are bringing in more profit.

Bite Me Bite Me Bite Me....

OK - but seriously. Neutral - Quick pay but difficult to please and lacking in communication skills.

Or you could go to the Jacks Webb Whatever-the-heck-Neg-a-neutral School of feedback.

But it is so much fun to give them their first negative!

Here is how I evaluate when I return feedback. Is their complaint legitimate? Was the lot as described? Did they contact me? You sold her a lot of videos at 60 cents each, that is pretty cheap. Her expectation should have been pretty low. I don't know how you described the lot, but my guess about selling a lot so cheap is you probably didn't describe every video, nor should you have. I would guess it was as described. Did they contact you? Sounds like they didn't.

I would be returning neutral or negative feedback in this case, depending on my mood. Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong here, so there should be no neutral feedback left for you.

If the seller wanted to auction her tapes off for a cheap opening bid that does not mean that the buyer should expect less then what the seller described., what I am saying is Price does not always determine the quality or condition of an item up on auction.

I am now selling Tiffany Flute Glasses that cost 55.00 each, but I am opening my auction with a bid of 29.00, for 4 of them, my description is telling my bidders what to expect, and in this case the glasses are MINT.........but what your saying is because my price is so low, my buyer should expect less then a quality item?

Why a seller does what they do only they know why, but when an item is described as being either mint, excellent, poor or fair condition then that's what the buyer would expect to receive, maybe in this case the condition was not described........so a buyer would assume if no mention of bad condition then the items are in good condition. I am not saying the buyer did right in leaving her comments in feedback, (she should have emailed the seller with her problem first)....
In this case if the items were in poor condition the seller should have made mention of that in the auction listing.

What the Seller usually sells them for is not the buyers problem, it's the sellers problem she listed them for a cheap price, because she wanted to "just get ride of them" YOU made the choice to sell them cheap but you have not told us if you mentioned condition of them in your auction listing.

Tapes should be in good working order, but one should not expect rare tapes. I don't know how the auction was worded, but if it was worded 60 tape lot without details, then it is up to the BUYER to determine what they are bidding on.

Respond to the feedback that was left for you and leave none for her and move on...

There may be literally thousands of current ebay jewelry auctions that state something like " I usually sell these rings for $3 to $7.50 at shows and flea markets " yet the seller is willing to sell them in lots at 40 cents each?
The buyer should have known there was some fluff going on as is the ebay tradition.

Return the neutral with another neutral and include the phrase 'items were as described' in the feedback. This bidder has to learn that like feedback is almost always returned on ebay.

Here is a different twist.
You sold her your tapes the sell for $2 - $7 dollars a piece for 50 cents each.
Could the other side of the story be that this auction was misleading and the tapes are really worthless for resale?
Why didn't you sell them yourself for $2 - $7 each. Seems to me if they really did sell for that, you would have done it.

Read the first post, seller said they were clearing them out for more profitable items to sell. I've also closed out items just to get rid of them, you won't be on ebay long if you are selling $2 videos individually...

The seller sold the lot as advertised and the buyer bought. The buyer had a problem. He had two choices, email the seller and ask for a resolution, or take it to feedback and smear the sellers record. The buyer fired the first shot and decided to settle it in the feedback forum. It was their choice, so accomodate their wishes. Nail their ass with a neg and then send them an email telling them why you did it and suggest they learn the technique of working with a seller instead of against them. Then block them from bidding and their emails also.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Just to answer a couple of questions: The tapes were new and sealed. Here's the exact feedback she left:
Neutral: tapes in the condition stated, assortment not the greatest for resale
Response by ihula - Same videos that I sell - you paid 50 cents each & I sell them for $2.00-$7.00
Here's the auction if anyone wants to look. The only email she sent me was "please no duplicates - I have bought lots of videos before and I get duplicates from people". She didn't receive any duplicates.

Yes, I just want to get rid of them at this point because since January I have ordered 12,000 of these tapes from the supplier and I'm getting sick of selling low end items. Since we met him we have hooked up with other supppliers with much better products and we need the room in the basement. I still have about 2000-3000 of these tapes left - even after 2 rummage sales.

Hi ihula,
Now, knowing all the facts and checking out your auction I see no reason for this buyer to leave you a neutral feedback.

Your auction explains everything to a buyer that they need to know before placing a bid so .........You also stated that they were new tapes so why does she feel they are not in condition for resale????

Looking at this as though it has happened to me it would make me very upset when I see no reason for anything other then a Positive feedback in this case.

A buyer such as this one deserves to get a neg. feedback .....but I most likely would give her what she gave me........Neutral feedback ..........But exactly what you should say this I don't know. It really pisses me off when I see something as dumb as this happen because the buyer just is a $#$# #$###
Maybe someone on here has the right words for you to say in feedback........I really would love to leave her a Neg. and say, buyer is just being picky, all are in Excellent New Condition........

I am with Twelvepole on this one

personally I think leaving a nut or neg will only look like you are petty!

If you have the need to respond with feedback then I would go with a positive sooo
