I have a 1950's dinette set with the chrome legs. It includes the matching chairs, but of course, the vinyl is shot on a few of them.
On the bottom of the chairs, there are advertisements for the kits to change the covers. Of course, this is 50 years old, but I was wondering if anyone knows where these might be found? I would rather do it myself, than pay a upholstry place to do it.

I know you can buy the vinyl at fabric stores along with the tacks. You can remove the vinyl from one of the seats and use it as a pattern. My grandmother taught herself to reupholster. Wish I had paid more attention. Since you are dealing with a very collectible set, I'd find a beat up foot stool somewhere and practice on that. As far as the kits go, someone may be able to help you.

I have no clue but I'm betting this person could help you out. They seem quite familiar with upholstery stuff and they have great feedback.
