may be this is old wine for some of you!
a buyer ordered from a cybershop(hundred of dollars worth of goods) and mail a personal check and asked the item to be expedited via overnite shipping.
as soon as the item has been shipped, call the bank and complain that someone has forged the check.

Checks are as good as the paper they are written on until they clear. I've had few problems but wouldn't overnight on the day check arrived either, especially on expensive items.

it makes no difference if the check has cleared or not before you ship, all he needs to do is to tell his bank it is forged.
he can say it 30 days down the road when the statement comes.
so it was cleared, once he complained ,the amount will be taken out from your account.

I know you said you overnighted the package, but if you shipped UPS or Fedex you can call them and have them reroute the package back to you if it isn't delivered yet.

this is not my case,i just found out about this recent scam on another message board.
by the time the buyer complained to his bank and his bank notified merchant 's bank and merchant's bank notified the merchant, you can bet the overnite package has been delivered.
