Where are some of these buyers from??? I combine shipping on my auctions; so when the auction closes, I send the winning bidder a very nice email thanking them, and give them a combined total for all the auctions they have won - ONE COMBINED TOTAL.

Not once, but twice! this week I have had to refund 4 PayPal payments to the SAME buyer. When I refunded the first two, I sent Mrs. Einstein a nice email explaining that yes, I do combine auctions to save her money; and when I give a combined total to a buyer it makes it much simpler (or so I thought) for both the buyer and the seller. So I told her I would be refunding her two payments and requested, at her convenience, that she resend me one payment for the combined total.

Does anyone else have this challenge? I just don't understand what is so difficult about clicking into PP and sending one payment - I do it all the time...

missed this part (what provoked me to post)...

I am sitting here working on auctions, and not less than 20 minutes ago, I get TWO MORE payments from this same buyer! I refunded them both AGAIN, and sent her another email - I wasn't rude, but I don't think she will be inviting me to dinner either...

now I am anxiously awaiting yet another PAIR of payments....

When I get someone who is that stupid, I go ahead and send a PayPal invoice for the correct amount so all they have to do is approve the transaction. Sucks to have to do their work, but sometimes if you want to get paid, that is what you do.

If you say that the combined total will only apply to a single payment, it might help.
Tell them that full shipping (or at least $.30 extra) will be required if they pay with multiple payments.

With the old form that eBay had what I did was put in the box. "I will send you an email after I receive eBays EOA. Please wait for my instructions. If this auction is an instant payment through PayPal click the logo at the end of the auction page but please remember to add the postage. If you are combining auctions please wait for my WBN.

Now I looked at this new one and I can see where you could add something like that. It is at the end of the auction page just before payment. Might just help....

WGM,
Could be a lot worse. At least she is making an honest attempt to pay for the auctions.

I include the following in every one of my multiple item bidders EOA email-

To avoid delays, you MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF THIS EMAIL OR THE EBAY ITEM NUMBERS with your payment. I also accept credit card payments (through PayPal only), payable to: [email protected] (As Paypal charges the seller a fee for each payment sent, if you will be using PayPal, please send the TOTAL amount in one payment, rather than separate payments for each individual item). Thanks again for your bids, xxx

Without fail I get at least 5 knuckleheads per week who don't read or don't care, and send multiple payments anyway. I used to refund the payments and ask that it be sent in one payment, or I would send paypal invoices, but it got to be too much of a hassle just to save the .30 fee here and there. Now, I just take the multiple payments (at least they paid, unlike the deadbeats), and I ship the items. My time is more valuable than wasting time sending paypal invoices etc., just to save the fees. It is discouraging though. Over the course of time, those .30 fees add up, and I've paid way more to paypal than I should have. Some people just don't read, or they are ignorant.

I guess I don't see the need to hassle or refund a customers payment if they fail to follow your combined shipping rules. If the total of the two or more payments covered s&h for the items I would just stuff'em in one box and ship'em.
Seems like you are more concerned with having to pay the extra pp fee that saving the customer money.
If a seller ever refunded my pp payment twice because I sent 2 payments instead of one, It would be a long cold day in hades before they got the 3rd payment!

I have the fact that I combine shipping on items PAID AT ONE time pasted all over my auctions. I just keep the money and send two shipments when they pay separately. Of course I am just dealing with flat rate shipping of $1.50 .... I have tried refunding etc and it simply isn't worth the headache of trying to save THEM money! I forgot to add that I just eat the PP fee on the items where buyers have paid separately and not included shipping on the subsequent items.

wgm, I agree with you in what your saying and I also don't understand buyers either because if your combining shipping your saving her some money so what does it take for her to understand how YOU would also like to save some money.

My problem with buyers is that I don't accept Paypal and it is clealy stated in my auctions and in my EOA email, but still I get them paying me with paypal and I have to be the one to go into paypal now and refund there money because they tell me that Only I can refund the money that they can not.

.30 cents is not much but when it adds up its a lot. Maybe your buyer finds it hard to understand how paypal works.
My sister n law also makes it hard on sellers when she buys, she either don't read or maybe the biggest part is she just don't understand what she is reading. Then she comes to me to fix up the mess she has made.
Over and Over I have shown her and told her what to do and she still can't get it in her mind.

You need lots of patience with people like this ........but I do know how hard it is when your busy making sales and trying to do your work.
I hope everything works out smoothly for you.

some bidders bid on many items from diff sellers and they make payments by going to their paypal account and just keep going down the list ,making payments.
it is easy for them, there may be full time sellers but there are very few full time buyers,be glad they are making payments.

I guess I didn't sound like it, but I am very grateful to be getting payments!

What really got me was that she claimed she didn't receive my email with the combined total, yet her payments reflect it...okay, giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she is psychic

The second item she purchased from me was a very low dollar item - $1.99. I am very generous on combining shipping, and didn't have any margin for the extra .30.

.30 is only .30, but it does add up

I do believe that to be covered by PayPal's Seller Protection you have to have proof of delivery for EACH payment recieved. If you recieved 4 PayPal payments, you need to have 4 tracking numbers.

If you recieved one PayPal payment for all 4 items you would be covered with one tracking nimber.

Wgm, I can empathize with how annoying it can be when people cant follow the instructions they are given. And yeah, those .30 cents sure do add up at the end of the month!

I go through this scenario several times per week and I even have returning buyers who do this repeatedly!?!

Tonight I get a bidder who is no newbie~nearly 100 feedback and is also a seller. She buys 17 items from my store and emails me expecting to get a combined shipping rate and fast shipping as she has projects she needs to complete. No problem. I give her a grand total with her combined shipping rate and she sends me 17 payments and attaches the shipping to one item. ARGGHHHH! Every single one of my auction pages states that I will combine shipping with combined payment.

I refunded every single payment and issued her an invoice and she emails to ask why I sent her an invoice and did I not receive her payments.

Here is the dialog:

From Another Ms. Einstein:

I have paid each auction seperately about an hour ago. did you receive
these?

Thanks,
Another Ms. Einstein

From Me:

I'm so glad to hear that you received my Paypal invoice with the combined shipping rate included. I refunded each of your individual payments so you could take advantage of that combined shipping rate. Thanks again and I'll ship as soon as your single payment is received!

Me

I only added a HINT of sarcasm to my response and she has yet to pay. I suppose the "projects" can wait?

I think some bidders do this on purpose if they feel your "combined" rate is not what they think it ought to be. I certainly think this is the case with my Another Ms. Einstein :0)

Thank goodness for Paypal's refund button. I've about worn it out in the last few months.

wendy - that sounds great! I am going to use that next time I have one of these bidders (sounds a tad bit nicer than mine LOL)

My bidder FINALLY sent me one combined payment yesterday - get this...I had sent her a request for payment through PP, and she refused it, then sent combined payment! LOL
