Yup, black hole right USA. Wait until black hole is left USA centering on about San Francisco. THAT will effect sales.

Is that a true picture? Seems strange that Cleveland area is still shown lit... Last time I checked it was on Lake Erie's shore... and that area still has lights.

If just doesn't look like that big of a deal at that scale does it?

I was in Staten Island that day, and I was planning to go into Manhattan in the afternoon. I got to the S.I. ferry terminal about 5 minutes after the blackout hit--boy, am I glad it happened when it did! If it had been 45 minutes later, I would have been trapped in a subway! I ended up just going back home to wait it out. Fortunately, S.I. got power back after about 10 hours. BTW Newark airport was a total MESS the next day because of all the people whose flights were cancelled because of the blackout. At the time, we had no clue how big this was since we didn't have a battery-operated radio in the house.....

It sure would be nice to have the billion dollars a week we are spending in Iraq to be spent on our own stuff. The roads and bridges in PA. are falling apart.

The only thing strange is why someone would fake a photo when the real thing would suffice.
Notice how in the rest of the photo where there is no light, it fades to black. Even in the Canadian north, the landmass is visible yet in NY it goes from light to jet black????

The first photo I have seen several times without the edited blackout regions. I never believed that to be a realistic map as it shows too many lights in desolate regions of the Rockies and Canada.

Check out all the NASA photos of night lights in North America. There are lots of lights in Canada.

You don't get out much, do you Ace?

BIGPEEPA,

That billion a week is being spent to prevent MORE damage. The $100 billion or so caused by 19 men boarding airplanes on September 11, 2001 (I don't know if that is the total, it is probably more actually) is going to look like nothing with a worse scale attack that could have come by Iraq or one of the countries in that area.

Are you a Canadian, Kiara? Canada only has about 35 million people that are mostly in their major cities. That first photo would only fool someone who has no sense of geography.

Do you see the 49th Parallel in the picture?

Not sure what you mean, Ace. Are you saying that every NASA photo is wrong? Maybe a huge plot with Canada to make them look bigger at night?

There is harmony
And it echoes through the land
Its the voice of hope
Its the voice of peace
Its the voice of every man
