When I logged on today the eBay page is REALLY different. All of it wouldn't load. When I clicked on "my eBay" it ask for my ID and pass. Normally I don't have to do that. eBay is set for my home page. When I looked up at the address it was http://pages.eBay.com. I was afraid to log in. When I changed the address to www instead of pages it still wouldn't load properly. Anyone else have this happen? I received two spoof emails last night asking for my personal info but didn't fall for them. They were "Security Checks" to confrim......can't even spell confirm right in their letter. Probably totally unrelated but kind of spooked me.

That doesnt sound right. First try going to http://www.ebay.com that should give you ebay's home page. http://pages.eBay.com is correct. Did you clean out your cookies, temp files etc yesterday? or do you have a program that does it automatically?

From the ebay announcement page

***Home Page Test***
Date: 08/21/03 Time: 07:45:59 AM PDT

Over the next two weeks, we will be testing simplified versions of the eBay Home Page. These versions will focus more on education, and on one version there will be no merchandising. These test pages will only be visible to a sample of visitors to the Home Page and will help us gauge the effectiveness of a simpler, alternate version of the Home Page.

We plan to use the results from this test to better understand the needs of the eBay Community. We are continually striving for ways to provide members with a better eBay experience and appreciate your patience during this short test.

Regards,
eBay

I totally reformatted last week and got everything back up and running Sat. evening. I did program to dump the internet files every 7 days and that would be today. In the past however, I didn't have re-enter my passwords and ID names. I must have done some of the internet options goofy or something.

Thanks guys for the information.

Paws, I got that 'test' page too and thought what the heck--just like you -- all changed??

When I relogged in again, it was back to normal. With all this spoof crap you dont know what to think sometimes.

If you want ebay ad other sites to load faster go to this link
http://mediaplex.com/mplx_privacy.shtml
and click on the link "Opting Out of Online Advertising from Mediaplex Products" then click on the button "I wish to opt-out"
That will get rid of a lot of garbage.
