hello, was just curious to know what days and times you have found to be successful for you. I find Sunday evenings but would like to try different times also.

thanks,Brigitte

Hi, I haven't found any particular day to list to be much better than another. I sell antiques and collectables and it seems that they get bids any day if they are going to get them. Since someone told about the little grey arrow on the sales manager page letting you see what day the bids are placed I feel even more sure that the day listed makes no difference. I usually start auctions between 9 and 10 PM Central time and my auctions always get the most looks on the second day. I was really surprised the first time I saw that because I expected the last day to be the most active.

Happy, I can attest to what Antiques says.

I think if its a good product, or a wanted item, it will get bid on and bought whenever listed in most cases.

The stuff I feel iffy about, I do try to run it through the weekends to get that exposure.

Antiques: Do you have alot of return customers? Think people have you bookmarked and return to see what you are selling??

Sunday night seems like a winner for everyone. Knowing that most bidder activity happens at the start of an auction and toward the end of the auction. I haven't considered my competitors but I'm thinking that affects the dynamics of bidding as well. If three of same items end around the same time, your ending price may not be as good. But if you find an ending time that is less cluttered and also a popular time among your buyers, I wonder if your prices would be higher.

neroter12: Yes, I do have return customers for like items. For example; clocks-I am guessing that the buyers watch that category and just happen to be a repeat buyer. Another example is very old back issues of a quarterly magazine for a specific group, I list one about every week-I suspect the regulars may have me bookmarked for that or else get notification when I list their favorites.
If I have a group of something like doll house furniture that I may not have another group of soon I list several at the same time and mention that I will be listing more and also mention it in follow up emails.

sun818: Your thought about not ending something at the same time as your competitors is a very good one. Now if you could just extend an auction by a few hours they might wait to see if yours goes for less. Seems to happen at regular auctions and the last thing brings the most.

Antique519 What are you talking about when you said:

"Since someone told about the little grey arrow on the sales manager page letting you see what day the bids are placed I feel even more sure that the day listed makes no difference."

Please explain about the "little grey arrow" and WHAT sales manager page you are referring to.

Thanks!

jwpc; Sales Manager is the left tab on the top of the Vendio page. It takes you to a list of your auctions listed through Vendio-open, closed, pending, etc. On those lists look at the title of the auction. There is a little grey triangle just to the left of the title. If you click on the title you see the listing but if you just click on the triangle or 'arrow' it will bring up a listing of each day and how many looks the auction had. I don't do stores so don't know if they have that feature too or not. I haven't seen an explination of this on the Vendio page but someone on this board told about it before. I have found it very interesting.

For over 2 yrs. now I have used the 10 day auction. I start all of my auctions at 11;30 PDT or PST. They go throught 2 weekends, ending @ 11:30PM on Sunday nite. Works for me & only costs a dime for more coverage. I am not a mungo seller, only 5 to 10 auctions a week.

thanks everyone. I guess it also depends what you're selling and who it attracts?

I think I'm gonna stick to Sunday evenings. I heard Monday evenings are good too.
