My vote is for your own website. Check out other website providers as cost do vary, but in the long run I feel it will pay off better then any so called store be it on ebay or elsewhere.

We have 4 established web sites, and an eBay store. I can't comment on Vendio as I don't use the service. BUT, IF you truly promote your eBay store on ALL of your eBay auctions, you should do well - we have, and we are pleased.

Web sites take time to establish, take time and knowledge to properly promote and get good spots on the search engines - you don't just "build" one and expect instant traffic - the if a store is properly promoted on eBay you can get almost instant activity.

We are definitely pro-web sites, but we also know that they aren't like baseball fields, you don't build them, and think "they will come," (meaning the buyers). If you pay someone else to do your web site and "PROPERLY PROMOTE IT," that doesn't mean sent it out to 10 zillion search engines, but to have the correct meta tags, set the pages up right to satisfy the search engine spiders, then it will be costly. BUT, IF you can do all this yourself, then I'd still say start with the eBay store, promote it, and then do your web site.

For good, inexpensive web space, shopping cart, and at a good price I'd personally recommend FATCOW - we have 2 sites with them, and have for 2 years.

Actually our most productive site is with FatCow - but it isn't necessarily because of FatCow, but what we specialize on that site. But we have been pleased with FATCOW, it has almost never been down, and there are many advantages to it, particularly for the novice.

and two with ntt/verio - our largest site is with ntt/verio - never had a down time.

Best of wishes with your endeavors.
