They need to make an example of the virus author and they should give him life in prison.

An appropriate punishment would be nice however, considering this individual is a teenager some bleeding heart, liberal judge will probably slap him or her on the wrist and tell them not to do it again. We can only hope that the individual has decent parents who will set fire to the kids laptop!!

Hee!hee! Speaking of JUDGES...

The GOP just can't decide which side of the mouth to blather out of!

I love the dance they be doing in the Senate trying to push Judge "Plantation" Pickering thru -- NOW they say he's WUNDERFUL because he gave out LIGHT sentences to DRUG DEALERS!

Another bleeding-fart conservative hypocrite!

Even if they give him a slap on the wrist, imagine how much this guy will be responsible for monetary damages in the civil suits. Heck, if I was affected, I would try to sue as well. Hopefully this guy will get a decent sentence, but I also hope he works the rest of his life to pay off debt.

From what I have heard he is being held in home detention. What this means to me is his parents are well conected. The more frightening thing is have you seen this kids picture. Looks like Hoss Cartright after taking steriods for a couple of years.

Actually, he isn't the virus creator anyway. All he did was modify the original virus to make it a little nastier.

That was certainly bad, and deserves some jail, but he's nowhere near as bad as the guy who started this mess in the first place.

MicroSoft still hasn't fixed it's numerous software loopholes. This was the SECOND blaster virus. What if the next copycat virus designer puts a burn up hard drive code inside of a shame on you Bill Gates code? I think MicroSoft should be at least partially responsible for having such crappy software. You can be sure that there will be a blaster3 and a blaster4.

He and his cronies owe $1 billion, thus far.

In a Muslim country they'd cut off his hands--or some other body part, I guess.

If only we could change the nomenclature. Hacking sounds cute; computer vandalism and theft doesn't. Could we come up with a mean-sounding synonym for hacking?

When I was on a city council, we had a graffiti problem. Some citizens thought it was remarkable and admirable that kids were getting up on high bridges to paint graffiti. Saw it as a game. Until their own fences and businesses were painted, that is. Then it was called vandalism and serious crime.

Doesn't it seem like the Post thinks we should just kill all the fat, geeky, loner teenagers who wear lip studs- before they make trouble?
