I was checking my auctions that I list through Vendio, I scrolled to the bottom of the page and find a ipix image. How do they get that image, and how long have they been doing this. I have to admit it adds to the auction.

You think that is strange? Well, I decided to list a few things on Ioffer (turned out to be a waste of time), and was so surprised to see the picture of me from my "ME" on eBay come up on my iOffer auctions, how on earth did they get that?

EDited to completely delete first response..not awake yet!!

The IPIX shows up at the bottom of your listings in conjunction with that little picture at the top of the listing. In order for you to get a little picture, Vendio has to import your pic to ipix when you list...when you import to IPIX, you get a picture at the bottom.

I think the ebay ME image on ioffer may have been a fluke from where you had it hosted on the web or by ioffer's hosting site.

I remember on the early days of Bidville the the auction images from get mixed up so you could have a book auction and for a while a baseball card photo would show up that wasn't even your photo. So all images loaded to ioffer or Bidville could be selected by the computer out of order.

The ebay pictures transition was posted a couple of days ago on the ebay annoucement page.

***eBay Picture Services Transition***
Date: 08/28/03 Time: 08:27:13 AM PDT

As previously announced, eBay is building our own photo solution called eBay Picture Services, which will replace what is known today as Picture Services hosted by iPIX. Starting today, we are going to begin a gradual transition over to eBay Picture Services.

If you currently use a third-party picture host, this transition will not affect you.

What you can expect from eBay Picture Services: The functionality is very similar to the current iPIX-hosted solution. For web browsers that support the full-featured version of eBay Picture Services, a new ActiveX control will be required. (Please see the Picture Services FAQs for more information on browser compatibility.) The ActiveX control gives you the ability to quickly edit and upload pictures directly in the Sell Your Item form, and should only take a few moments to download. The basic version of eBay Picture Services will not have these enhanced abilities, but is available for most browsers that do not support ActiveX.

During this transition, if you experience a problem with our new eBay Picture Services, or would like to give your feedback about it, please contact Customer Support by following these steps:

Click on the Help link located at the top of most every eBay page.
Click the “Contact Us” link towards the bottom of the page that pops up.
Click “Ask about Selling (for sellers only)”.
Select “Photo issues” as the topic and “Ask about eBay Picture Services” as the subtopic and click Continue.
You will then have an option to email Customer Support or speak to a Live Chat representative.
You can also click on the Live Help link on the Pictures page of the Sell Your Item form.

If you do not wish to use eBay Picture Services hosted by eBay during the transition period, you can opt out at any time. To opt out, please click the link above the picture section on the Picture and Details page of the Sell Your Item form that says “Return to eBay Picture Services hosted by iPIX.” You can also opt out on a per-item basis when revising or relisting an item. If you choose to opt out, eBay will transfer your pictures to the iPIX-hosted solution so you will not lose them.

This transition will be complete in several weeks, at which point the iPIX-hosted solution will no longer be an option on the Sell Your Item form. All active photos previously uploaded using iPIX will be transferred to the new eBay Picture Services so they will still be available.

Please see the Picture Services FAQs for additional information.

We thank you for your support during this transition, and we appreciate your feedback on this new solution.

Regards,
eBay

The ONLY place I have my picture hosted is on Vendio, and posted on ME on eBay, so I cannot understand how it got onto Ioffer, just hope Vendio doesn't charge me for it.
