I bought this lovely cornucopia today, but have not been able to identify a maker. I was told that it was old and had been in the family for many years (heard that before!)Have not located anything like it in my books or online yet. It is 13" long by 8" high and quite heavy. There are no marks except for a number---P192. It reminds me a little of Lenox with that creamy, ivory color. I will try to post a picture, but this is only my second or third post, so I'm not very confident. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can verify that this is old. I have no idea the maker but we had one on our fireplace Mantel since the beginning of time. Well since 1948 is the first I can remember it but I would bet it is older than that. It is a lovely piece and as you say very heavy. Did you buy it in Minnesota? I will be watching for it. Thanks for the memory.

I'm not sure who made these pieces. Toasted posted a pic on this thread the other day of a covered dish with gold trim.

I have sold a few similar ones in the past and some pieces are marked 22 K USA. There was a company in East Liverpool, Ohio that made vases, etc. with gold on them and I think that some date back to the 30's.

Some of the vases would be entirely covered in gold paint.

Libra63---Bought this at a Long Island estate sale yesterday. I loved it the minute I saw it. Thanks so much for your input. I will probably be putting this up for auction tomorrow.

Kiara-I've lurked here a long time and you are one of my favorite posters---a font of information and help. Thanks for all the things I have learned from you and other great posters.

When you list it I think you could use the word chintz along with your description. Be sure to mention the pretty pink roses. Good Luck.

Libra63 I was thinking chintz also. The design has such a nice old-fashioned look. Thanks again. You are a peach!

Thanks, coincoach.

I learned lots from original members of AW/Vendio many years ago and bookmarked all the sites they posted here.

This afternoon I tried to find out more about the Ohio pottery and ceramic companies and they are endless. One mark is Pearl and that is the one with the heavy 22 K gold or "weeping gold" that I was thinking of but not your cornucopia.

I just found another one with California pottery marks and recognize some of the pieces that I have sold. It's a fun page.

BTW, you should post more often now.

Thank you again for the link, Kiara. Most of my bookmarks are links I got from you! I've been a little shy about posting, but it is not so bad
