Hi. A prankster used BIN on one of my auctions. [This was a brand new bidder who used BIN to "buy" over $30,000 worth of goods from various auctions on eBay in two days. Obviously this was some crackpot and a day later the bidder was no longer registered.]

Question: I want to file a FVF for this auction without doing the Bidder Alert....as there's no way in the world I would even consider selling to this person, but I don't see on eBay how to file for the credit without doing the alert. Also, I'm not rerunning the auction as I'm through for now....need to take a break. Help.

Thanks.

Ruta

If the bidder is already NARU and the normal 7 days have passed when you initiate the non paying bidder alert you will be automatically forwarded to the 2nd stage FVF fee request and be done with it.

You must do it on-site..... you can't use any tools otherwise you'll have to wait the normal 7 days plus the 10 day in between stage.

If this person has that much activity in such a short time then he clearly isn't going to react to the notices sent by you or Ebay. A NARU prankster on a new account can't leave a retail neg cuz he/she ain't getting that account back........

Hi again. Well, I went ahead and filed a non-paying bidder alert....and unfortunately, it DID go through...in other words, I didn't automatically get to file a credit for FVF.

It doesn't make sense that a non-registered "screw-loose" bidder who created all sorts of havoc on eBay would get a friendly "please pay" email. I just hope the screw doesn't get any more wobbly lest this person want to play one more prank by sending me a phony check!

Was it the mandatory seven days since the close of the auction when you filed for the NPB? Ebay should automatically credit you the FVFs when the time limit is reached.

Hi Ruta, I had a NPB that was Naru'd for unregistered user and I got the credit right away. I think when they kill somebody's account, they can offset which auctions they bid on very easily. ?

On a NARU auction you get fees back immediately and I doubt if the bidder will get the email. But his email address will remain incase he reregisters he will then get the notice.

Then why wasn't this seller given an immediate refund? Something's different.

I dont know, Ace. I was surprised when I didn't have to do the whole 7-10 day waiting thing. First time it happened for me like that, too.

Maybe ebay is investigating the Naru'ed seller and will give a rare full refund to the numerous sellers that got stung? I can dream can't I?

If your high bidder has been NARU'd, you can file FVF and get credited immediately. If you file NPB on your NARU bidder you will automatically have to wait 10 days to file FVF. It's one of those quirky ebay things you learn by doing.

Thanks for all the great responses.

In reply to some of them: I did wait the full 7 days before reporting. I tried to file for a FVF, but the automated system for this wouldn't let me, refusing to accept my claim until I first filed a non-paying bidder alert....hence the email that went out to the crackpot (who I understandably don't want anything to do with.)

The auction in question was Featured. I see now that I can only recoup the FVF...a few dollars, which is probably not even worth my bother. Oh, well...

That is correct. You must wait 7 days then file the NPB first. There is no waiting period after that. It will take you right to the FVF page. It should only take a few seconds to complete the filing after that.
