As the person who never says no, I now have two HUGE items that I can't use or have room for: Onifax L46 - one of the original copier, faxer etc and a laserjet 4 printer that prints regular and legal size. It's now worth it to list on ebay. I think there are too many of both. I have them on craigslist. Cheap price. any thoughts?

How much for the laserjet? And do you know how many pages it has printed over its lifetime?

Sorry, no. I got my fax machine in the prize corral at Dave and Buster's. I used to be addicted to the coin-pusher machines.

I'll take an old Apple LaserWriter 16/600, in any condition, if anyone has one sitting around locally.

I have a Laserjet 4 (and a 3) that I've used for years- they are excellent printers.

I saw a pair of Laserjet 4's at the Computerfest show a couple weeks back, and they were $15 each. I didn't buy them.

My latest PC doesn't have a parallel printer port, so I guess it's going to be USB for me in the future. Fortunately, I have several old PCs and can use one as a dedicated print server with the old printer.

Without a doubt, the shipping will be more than the printer is actually "worth." Those things weigh a ton!

The San Leandro transfer station ( to the Altamont Pass ) dumps now charges a hefty fee on electronic items like computers and TV sets. I figure that's why so many end up at flea markets for $5 or so or even free. Many thrift stores won't accept the electronics anymore as the new ones are so inexpensive.

If you decide to throw them out hide them well when you go to the dumps or pay extra fees and make a trip to a special area of the dumps.

A couple of months ago someone left two (presumably dead) monitors in a shopping cart next to my car in the Albertsons parking lot.

Call RecycleWorks, an agency of San Mateo County, 1-888-442-2666. http://www.recycleworks.org. They'll tell you how to dispose of it at the lowest cost.

I know Fulffy. They will take all but TVs and monitors for free. due to the cath tube, it costs $25 to "dump" those there. Now, there is a place in san jose that takes EVERYTHING!! I sure wish I knew the name. I have been there before. That's what the place I work for uses to get rid of the computersm monitors, printers, software mice etc etc.

I have a Laserjet 4p and I love it. One rugged machine that puts out great looking copies at a super cheap price. I use it also in conjunction with my scanner as a photocopy machine.

Auctionace...Never take computer equipment to the dump and pay them to dispose of it. Shove that moniter in a new box, tape it up really well, mark it as stereo equipment or video equipment and put it in the back of your pickup. Park on a side street the next time you go to a thrift store in a seedy neighborhood. After about 30 minutes looking for bargains, when you return to your pickup, the box will be gone! I don't know where you live, but in my town it works 100% of the time.

I figure much of the junk at flea markets is stuff intentionally left in alleys and such for people to take thinking they got a great discovery. They don't know the items are of little or no value and try to sell them as there is no money invested. The really old computers that you see at the flea markets may be those 'finds' and it's amazing that the sellers will ask $50 for a 486 computer.

What's even more amazing is that ever so often those sellers find a buyer who will fork over the $50.00 and think he got a good deal
