Right now I don't but thinking about opening one again. It cost so much to maintain a bunch of auctions.

The first month is free and the basic store is $9.95 per month. Each month long duration listing is a nickel, so a store with 200 listings is $10 plus the $9.95 store fee. ( on the second month ).

The problem is that very few buyers take the time to use the special ebay stores search engine.

Are the store listing not also listed in the gallery? I too have been throwing around the idea of store.

So, if you do a keyword search will you on the stores auction, or just the ones listed in regular auction. (see, i know nothing about it!)

There is a regular penny gallery option for stores but I don't know how that works as I do not see a search by gallery within the stores search engine area.

The only way to search the stores is by either the special stores search engine or search a certain sellers store within the store. If ebay alowed the store items to be listed in the regular search engine then no one would want to pay 30 cents or more to list when all store items are only a nickel per month regardless of the price. Everyone would open a store.

I never ever searched the stores until after reading that there are six million items in the stores I started using it as a second choice and have found a lot of items that are not listed in the regular ebay search engine.

Ebay needs to promote the special search engine a bit.

I do have an eBay store and am thinking of closing it ..I sell a few items every month, but not enough to justify the expense of the store. I have 3 links to my store prominently placed in my auctions:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2191086300&category=35894&rd=1

As a buyer, I have found some good deals in the store search - I think many sellers do what I did, reduce the price and instead of relisting, stick the item in the store. Too bad eBay doesn't promote the store search a little better!!

How do you make the clickable links within your Ebay ads? Also, how do you promote your Ebay store?

Here is the html I used - I am not sure if this will work here but I'll try:

<p><center><center><font size=4><b><FONT COLOR=RED><U>MOODY MOMMY'S MARVELOUS POST CARDS<P><P><a class=customlink href="http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=18559912&ssPageName=L2"><font color=blue>**CLICK HERE***

You would substitute the name of your store and your own store URL in the http section

It did show up and not as a link! whew...I went further and added a link to SEARCH my store and another link to promote one category in my store.

I save all this verbage in my vendio preferences.

Neglus...

I also use links in my auctions to direct traffic to my store. (I sell magazine advertisements in the store) I like your idea of having a direct link to your postcard sleeves (I have some mats for framing that I sell that I could do the same with). I do have one link that takes them to the main section of my eBay store. You seem to have one that takes you there, and one that takes you to a search feature (which basically is the same thing). I have a better suggestion for you on your second link. Make a link that already has the search word included. In other words... if you're selling a german sheppard postcard, have the link pull up ALL the german sheppard post-cards that are in your store. Use a link like this:

<a class=customlink href=http://search.stores.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&sid=XXXXX&store=XXXXXXX+XXXXXXX+XXX&colorid=5&fp=0&query=german+sheppard&srchdesc=y>Click here to view the other German Sheppard postcards I have on ebay.</a><br>

I've xxx'd out my sid (store id) and store name... but to find out the appropriate link for you, just do a search and then copy the link that opens in your browser after the search is completed. The great thing is not only does this show you the additional items in your store... but it also searches through your current auctions as well. It's a great way to market similar items to the same customer!

Visit this link for more detailed information on HTML links in stores:

Hope that helps!

eauction..I thought about doing the specific search link but that would mean I would have to "personalize" every auction and I am not sure that that is time/cost effective when I launch 50 auctions/day ( or try to anyway)..I guess I could move the whole thing to the text I copy & paste when listing so I could edit..right now it's saved with Vendio preferences and I can't edit that to customize..maybe I'll try it before giving up on the store idea! I do think that my regular auction sales have increased since I added the store but I can't prove it!

I swear when I added the "search" link only the "search" box showed and not the store gallery - now it is redundant except maybe it gets people to think about searching instead of wading through all the items. I cant even stand to look at "my Ebay" anymore because the store items have various ending dates and are all mixed in with active auctions..PIA!!

Neglus,

The editing can be pretty quick (although it does add a step)....

What I've done to make it easier, is I've created an inventory item for my magazine ads... at the end of the description, I have my eBay store links. To change the link, all I have to do is replace key words in the link. For example, in the above link I showed you, I could replace the "german+shepard" in the link with "nikon+camera". You just want to make sure you use the + symbol to seperate words. Then, where I say "click here to visit my other German Sheppard postcards" all I have to do is replace German Sheppard with "Nikon Camera". So... all you're really doing is editing an extra two spots (and getting lots more exposure!) Then, like you I have my TOS listed in my global preferences so that I don't ever even have to see them while I'm editing.

I agree with you about the store items being a PIA in My Ebay. I wish they'd put them in a seperate section so that we could keep them seperate! Anyhow... hope that helps!

I like the idea eauction - just trying to figure out how to do it. I gave up using "inventory" or "profile" listing tools because of the time it takes for them to change from "new listing" - I just use the default "new listing" (which must be blank) and copy and paste from a word document my boiler plate language for each type of postcard and then the rest of the listing comes from my saved text in "preferences" - I am able to list a whole lot faster without having to wait for the "inventory" screen to come up before I choose my category ( I have to list in 50+ categories to hit all the states and state sub-categories)..is there a way to design text for the "new listing" default?

My problem with the ebay store is that there is no promotion of it by ebay. It is ok if people see your auction and go into your store (there is not even an easy link into the store) of in your EOA notification. What I have done in the past is include a link to my own website in the auction notice, and have gotten sales there - No extra cost to maintain the site, and certainly no fees paid to ebay to sell an item. I don't believe I would open an ebay store unless I got some value for my money (i.e. extra ebay traffic)
