I have an opportunity to purchase the Madame Alexander doll of herself from around 1986 and don't want to pay too much for her. Can anyone give me an idea of what they sell for. Doing a search on Ebay for Madame Alexander Madame Alexander is rather useless!

Well of course there are thousands of entries. Madame Alexander Company produces thousands of dolls per year. It's hard to find the one of herself though and that's the one I need the info on. I'm still looking, but wading through every doll she ever manufactured is tedious.

You were being helpful. Any amount of information is good because it may lead someone to an answer. No need to apologize at all.

PCLADY, What is to much? If you like it then buy it its only money. You will never have an outstanding collection if you worry about how much you pay for something. If you want an outstanding collection always buy the best and don't worry about what you pay. Frugal people put together a collection but never put together an outstanding collection.

dacreson, you were being helpful! Sorry if I offended you, that was not my intent. I'm just so frustated wading through all the dolls that I'm about ready to scream!
neglus, thanks! I'll check out that link right now.
bigpeepa, the doll isn't for me, but for my sister and I don't mind paying top dollar but I'd like to know what that top dollar is since the person wants me to make an offer. Don't want to under offer and don't want to make an offer that's way out there either.

There is a place in Wheeling, IL called Shirley's Doll House. She is a bigwig in the Madame Alexander dolls. You'll have to look up her phone number, but the might be able to help. I knew her daughter (Sue) she was a sweet lady. Shirley can have her "moments", so if you call on one of those days, don't take offense. Shoot, you may want to talk to Sue and tell her that Becky referred you.
Hope this helps!

clivebarkerfan - thanks, what a generous offer! I won't be needing to take you up on it though because ...
deltim hit it!! Thanks so much!! Lookie here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2948261734&category=15994#ebayphotohosting
Same doll! Holding off on making the offer was to my advantage as my offer was way above that closing price by a long shot. I'll be better off just watching the auctions.
Thanks everyone for the help. I really appreciate it.

Is it just the pic or is that doll a little scary looking? Reminds me of the Head Mistress in every movie with a boarding school who turns into the Big Mean as soom as the parents drive away. Check the dress, she's got a ruler hidden in there somewhere just waiting to lay someones knuckles open - I can tell from the look in her glass eyes.

Thanks sanmar. I appreciate you looking that up.
Fenix03, you could be partly right. Maybe this is the doll that comes alive after the kids are asleep.
