I am selling the same ole stuff I always have been selling and now nothing is moving. I can understand a slow down in the beginning of september but now? What's the problem? I have relisted, lowered prices and shipping costs and still nada. HUMMMM Must rethink this entire thing. Maybe time for a mega garage sale.

I think most ebay sellers are wondering why things are so slow. There will always be a few hot or warm areas of ebayers selling but overall I bet there are more Paloma91's than toasted36's.

I've had some really good sales in ephemera lately; ratty little booklets from long ago, convention programs etc., 11 of them brought $229 last night. Some sold for $3, one for $129, etc. Same buyer took them all. And other ephemera, too. No home-schooling books are selling right now for me, whereas they did sell early in the summer. Some books are doing well, some not so well.

Don't get discouraged, Paloma.

Do you ever use the Gallery? Is it possible your items aren't showing up in Gallery?

Could be time to look to other items to try and sell. For me, things picked right up after labor day.

Antiques, collectables and luxury items have been real slow for me lately. Necessities and related have been very good. Right now the business and industrial category has been extremely hot for me, especially test equipment and high tech instruments. I would rather have a single Tektronic scope listed now than a truckload of Haviland.

WHEW! That was a long day. finally got my kid to sleep. It is WAY too hot here!

Yes, it's time to unload the stuff that hasnt been selling. I think a HUGE garage sale would do fine. Price 'em cheap and move 'em all out. Let someone else try to sell this things on ebay. I have some really nice things but they are burried under all of this other stuff. gotta get rid of it.

Fluffy, wanna help? Got anything you want to unload????

Thanks for all of your input. I noticed that guy junk ( and I DO mean junk) is selling. Even the broken junk sold. I guess they use it for parts or something. Since there is only me and my son, There isnt too much guy stuff in this house. I think I will have to dig through the piles to find some techie or guy stuff. (giggle) GET OUT THE SCUBA GEAR!! I'm diving in the smallest of the piles!!

Palomi, Why dont you check the EBay Boards for Hot Item of the Week listings? I know its not the best resource, but at least it is a start or a clue. They supposedly compile that data by what is getting the most hits/bids and there is not that much supply of. Maybe you can look over there and see if you have anything hanging around you might want to list?

I've had a great few weeks on ebay. I did take a decent amount of time off this summer, but things have been selling well, and the sell-through rate is high. I guess it really does depend on what you sell. I know my parents are on ebay, sell different things than I do, and sales for them are tough.

Great idea Fenix. Paloma, you don't have a problem with fixing lunch for a couple hundred people do you? And don't forget the beer!!

Fluffy, wanna help? Got anything you want to unload????

I've got so much stuff I get tired just thinking about it.

I've done a number of multifamily garage sales with friends. The big danger is that the friend usually buys most of what I'm selling. And then she's more encumbered with junk than before!

Would hate to see that happen to you.

Ahhhh come on fluff, You KNOW how much stuff I have. I wouldnt have room for any more. I PROMISE to sell your stuff along with mine. I think I even have two buyers who would probably buy it all!! (giggle) It will be fun. Just drop it off, tell me how low is your lowest and let me go from there. Show up at the end of the day and pick up the loot! It will add some class to my meager offerings!

Whatcha say!!

I don't know what to think of you Bay people, always complaining about the heat when it gets over 75. I get bored with our temp down here in Santa Maria, 74 high 54 low day in & day out. Oh yes, Sunday we hit 84 for a high!!. We have had .01 inch of rain since July 1!!! How dry can it get??

Sure! Everyone is welcome! Just bring your boxes of stuff, I have some beer, soda and a huge lemon tree in the back yard to make some lemonade. Sandwiches HUMMMMM How about a HUGE pasta salad instead We can sit under the tree in the front yard and watch all of the wannabe ebayers come by and buy our stuff. (we can chuckle about them after they leave)

And for good old Sanmar,
You're just bragging. Just because you live in god's country and all. GEEZ! (grin) I bet you even have atleast one air conditioner in your house. In mine, no such luck. No air conditioner here unless you count open windows and a weak fan going 24/7. Also, your house might be fully insulated or made of brick or some such material that keeps the heat out. Mine is wood with NO insulation at all. Wooden houses do better in quake areas but sure wish it was insulated. Would keep it alot cooler.

My house is hotter than hell too. The house stayed warm all winter and I never once had to fire up the central heater last winter.

Just listen to you people! We've had our first snow already this year, and I'm sitting here wrapped in a blanket as we speak.

Still, I'd do three winters in a row here over one of the South Texas summers I've been through when I lived down there. No thanks.

Southern Alameda County. Born in Livermore, never lived out of county except for a few years in Milpitas ( borders Alameda County ).

I think our house was built over a manhole cover covering Hell. $450,000 house with no air conditioning, just like most other houses around here.

Ace...What are you complaining about? Just be glad you didn't have over 20 days straight of triple digit temperatures like we had here in the Valley. It only got to 99 today, so we got off easy. Maybe next summer I will bring up a pickup load of ceiling fans and sell them off the tailgate on Market street in SF during a heat wave. No FVF and all cash. Hmmmm...

Hey Sparkz! You're in the Valley, sweltering with me?! I didn't realize there were any "locals" around here!

The ceiling fans go for a song at Cosco and Walmart and I can't imagine anyone selling them against the big rivals. They are at the flea markets for almost nothing.

I spent a few days in Palm Springs once and it was 112 but with only 4% humidity it was nicer than an 85 degree day in the Bay Area.

It's just that my house will just not cool off in the summer and stays warm all winter.
( saves a lot in heating bills in winter though )

paloma: Have you set a date for your sale? I'm mulling your offer. I'd pay a commission to sell this stuff without me having to stand outside in the yard dealing with shopper yahoos all day.

It's good stuff, too, I am just not set up for shipping anything other than my bread-and-butter jewelry. Hall Autumn Leaf coffee maker, lots of pink depression glass, carnival glass, kewpies, good costume jewelry, some sterling flatware, an assortment of brand new shawls and evening wraps... Think it'll fly?

Wyoming!...what a nice place to live. I bet they dont have to wait till the first of the year to fire up the sleds out there...I was out west once, took an Amtrack from Reno Nevada to Syracuse NY and never shut my eyes once till about Chicago after seeing mounds of garbage in the streets around the A-Track hub. It was the most disgusting site I have ever seen......(Chicago)
