LOL

I love this line...

"Many companies offer products for free and you just win one."

Maybe I can just win one two

To play the Devil's Advocate, I bet he harvests a lot of IDs and passwords with that ploy. It started out as free cars and now it's free laptops so next may be more believable free $50 gift certificates at the ebay Store? It's amazing to watch the scams evolve and become more clever.

You know I must receive 5 to 10 scam eBay emails a week trying to get my ebay password. I always copy the headers and forward them together with the message to ebay as I am sure many of you do and you know what I have never, not once, read a single story of ebay ever tracking one of these account info phishing people down, turning them into the police, taking them to court on a civil action or doing anything else to demonstrate that they take this fraud seriously and are determined to take strong action to stop it. Ebay really doesn't seem to give a damn about it customers or sellers and it shows.

I quit sending them into [email protected] . They know the spoofs are out there and the ebay resources required to answer all of the spoofs turned in must be enormous. I'd rather let ebay use those resources on something else.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought forwarding those emails to eBay accomplished two things: 1) got that particular link shut down so others who subsequently received the email would not be able to click on the link 2) alerted eBay to the new types of scams and the sheer volume of scams out there.

The scams are not run by kids on a computer using an ISP in the USA. The scams are run by hackers that are almost impossible to catch and most are in Asia or Europe. ( hence the poor gramnar )

The only hope ebay ever has of stopping the spoofs is if the public eventually gets wise to them on a greater scale. Eventually the spoofs will slow down as their effectiveness will be less and less. It's like a profitable fad for hackers now.
