What a gigantic PITA Vendio has been today. I can't even log in unless I allow VD my cc number. Norton alert window comes up when I get to the opening page and won't let me in unless I allow the information to be transmitted. NO I do not have to type anything in such as my cc number. A Norton alert window comes up and says my computer is attempted to send private information to wsacp.vendio.com. There is a box at the bottom of the window that asks if I want to allow it or block it. If I block it I can't enter vendio even with my password unless I allow the information to be sent.

This is the first day this week I have had time to write up auctions and I can't because everytime I go from page to page the alert window comes up. Yes I have my security set above medium but not on high so I will get these alerts. Otherwise my computer will send information.

End of my rant for the week. Won't get into all the really rude ebay people who have emailed stupid questions this week. Is there a full moon? Hope I can get a few auctions written today.

I have the Norton Internet Security which inludes the firewall. I have no problem getting into Vendio. In fact I just uploaded 16 pictures & set up 7 auctions this morning, have been & out several times with no trouble. Have you just put in the Firewall? If so, you need to customize it to allow you into Vendio without popping up each time.

You have to make a rule for Vendio and other interactive sites you use one by one.

I have tried adding vendio to the trusted sites in two areas, private information & firewall, and nothing works. I just now just turned the privacy control off until I can get some auctions written.

It is weird that sometimes there isn't a problem with vendio and the one day that is crazy and you can't get in.

Are you using Netscape? Every once in a while Norton's and Netscape go kerflooey on me. I just reboot and everything returns to normal.

I use IE. I did reboot and it still goes crazy.

Websites just harvest emails and different information from your computer without you knowing it and it drives me crazy with Norton and Vendio. Sometimes with eBay I try to view an auction (not mine) and it won't let me view it unless I permit my cc information.

Try talking to the Norton people, they should be able to help.

Wow! That's really weird. Do you have all of the latest IE patches? I think the only thing you can do is contact Norton's. I think this sounds like you may have an actual security breach that wasn't picked up.

Let us know what happens.

neroter12======

I don't have to enter anything EVER. The Norton window comes up and says "a computer is trying to access the following personal information" do you want to block or permit it? I have to check one and click on ok. They never ask me to enter information. The computer on the other end is asking my computer for information that is in my computer. That is what a personal firewall is for...to protect your information.

paws, as far as I know, a firewall protects and logs traffic in and out of your computer it doesnt have anything to do with cc info, unless you have your cc info stored and your firewall protects that.

But I dont think viewing an auction should ever request that page even if they wanted to send you a cookie or adware packets. But I dont store my cc info on my computer or use auto complete, so I dont know if this is something with Norton. My firewall doesnt have that.

The only type of site that would try to retrieve your cc info without your knowledge is not legit. I suspect you may have a trojan and you firewall alerted you to it.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

If you have the Norton Internet Security it also has a privacy protection. You can put the last 4 numbers of any number you want protected. I have entered the last 4 numbers of my SS #, my CC#, home address, home phone # etc. I had to take my email address out because vendio ask for it so many times that I couldn't do anything on VD. The stupid alert window would come up. Even though I have configured it to allow wsacp.vendio and www.vendio to ask information from my computer it still has the window come up sometimes. Somedays are fine and they never ask and then there are days like today when I can't even get into vendio unless I permit the information to be accessed.

I can't be the only one out there that this happens to. A lot of people have Norton FW and must have it configured to protect private numbers. I email vd about it but probably will get the standard answer that they never ask for private information. They just can't figure out what I am saying.

Paws,
I only know you from this board but you are pretty bright and I can't imagine that this is something you did. Plus the fact that it's a new problem. If it were indigenous to Norton's you would have experienced it from the start. We all would have. I have to think that it's something else like an undetected infection. I hope not. Did you contact Symantec (Norton's)?

Good luck.

I Have been running either Norton firewall or Norton Internet security for quite a while and only ever had one problem when I first used it. I Disabled the cookies and
this does stop you using Vendio properly but once I enabled it again, never had a problem since. It does though slow slow slow your loading of auctions though.....but how on earth could anyone work without it ?? -- all you will get is zillions of pop up ad's telling you that you need something to stop them coming up. Think they are worse than spam and the people who send them out ought to be turned into spam along with the spammers....

I used to run Nortons. I finally got fed up with it and removed it from my computer. It interfered with my CD burning software and a few other things. But I'm running a router now so I really didn't need Nortons.

piece of advise, get rid of Nortons from your system, it will do nothing but cause problems down the road, it takes over your system, and sc#ews your system, use Zone Alarm for firewall on your system, and if you have a high speed connection, get yourself a external router with a firewall built into it also.....
