I really need some help on this ceramic Blue Jay figurine. I know it's old but is it worth listing? I know nothing about ceramics and don't have any books to do research. Any help will be appreciated for sure. Now if I can remember how to insert a picture. It's been a long time since I've done it.

Edited to say-------I don't remember how to get the images on here!!! Shoot by the time I get through this will look like a mess....hope it works this time.

You need a URL for the photo.
and it should be [*img][*/img] without the*

Go to Manage Images, right click on the photo, copy the "img" location and paste here. Try that!

Thanks dadofstickboy-----now if I remember right I should have clicked on the big picture instead of the thumbnail--right?

Thumbnail is fine, just remove thumbs from URL.
Right click on one of the photos I posted then click on properties and see what I did!

I've always thought the closed auctions search was far more important than the active items search when researching ebay.

Here's the closed search for the item

http://tinyurl.com/qsyw

It looks like the typical ebay collectible results --- half of the items sold with a wide range of value, from $1 to $22.50 . Looks like the item is probably worth about $7 if it does sell.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't list it. There are tons of bird collectors out there and this is an unusually nice piece. I would list unless you paid more than ten dollars for the item.

Hello,
I bought an estate last week, in the estate I got around 25 bird figurines similar to the one you have. I won't be listing them on Ebay because I don't think they will bring much if they even sell. I have found that 99% of the ebay buyers must think the Japanese birds are junk and they sure don't bid on them. I sell this kind of stuff at a local live junk auction but always make sure the auction is right after the 1st of the month so the buyers have some money to spend. Good Luck.

To me, the hard part of listing this would be trying to guess which category would be most likely to attract bidders. In addition to the Pottery and glass>Japan>art category, there are several in the collectables category that it would fit into. You would definitely want to list in two categories.

Thanks for all the comments and advice. I'm thinking it won't bring enough to warrant the aggravation of the careful packing it would take. All those bird tails sticking out!!!!!

It actually didn't cost me anything. It was given to me by a ninety six year old neighbor that collected bird figurines. I would not have even considered selling it but for the fact that I have loads of stuff given to me and you just have to get some of it out of your house! I'm in the process of sorting through it all. What a job it is!!!!
