I really doubt ebay cares, but they say they do..

First time I've checked this out. I had a bidder on an item, very low end.... the bid was there until yesterday, then gone. The explanation was 'Bid wrong amount' and didn't bid again.

Ok fine, it was only 6.99. But I went to look at bidders feedback, and the bid retractions... she (or he) has 11 in past 7 days, 28 in past month and 52 in past 6 months

So I look at the 'rules' on bid retractions, and ebay says that excessive retractions can be grounds for suspension.

So... what exactly is excessive bid retractions? 10 a day? 20 a day? I think IMO that 11 a week is excessive!

I agree, NTS. I have had a few bidders who ran up an auction, then retracted their bid saying "bid wrong bid amount" - after they had bid multiple times...then search and find out they are bidding on other item just like it. One had over 30 in 2 weeks.

Guess it's just another line of numbers on the feedback card - or at least looks that way. It really ticks me off though - very unfair to other bidders.

Better to have a retracter than a dead beat.

If it is the lone bidder be glad he retracted. If it doesn't sell you still get the relist.

If he won and was a dead beat you not only get the hassles of the NPB process you forfeit the relist credit.

Hey wgm, yep this one found others exactly like mine.

Lovepotions, I'm not sure about this one, may be the exception, I do agree, that a lot will be deadbeats, but this one has feedback in the 200's and no negs, just all them bid retractions.

But your right, best have the bidder retract, then problems later

I am just curious as to when ebay thinks retractions are excessive. But then they have 'rules' they never enforce anyway, tis only a 'venue'!
